Principal appointments 2023

Anyone have intel on other openings that are coming but haven't been posted yet? I know principals can wait until July, I believe, to announce, and I suppose some may be waiting to see if they've gotten other jobs, whether they're in central office, a promotion to a different age level or outside the county.

I’ve been wondering if my DS principal is leaving also.

It's all just rumors until the person puts in their notice.

Our principal has announced to various people each year for the past several years that this is her last year. Never happens.

Yeah, same for our principal. I think he applies out and hopes for the best and it just doesn’t go his way. Year after year. God bless him for continuing to try, though he’s apparently stuck with us forever. Perhaps this will be the year he’s sprung free.

We must have the same principal. Good luck to him.

Yeah. I think he may need to expand his search beyond the county or take early buyout if he really hates his job. Doesn’t look like a promotion is in the cards.

Really? I have heard rumors about that too but didn’t think she would

She said so at a PTA meeting last year and said this year would be "the year of Jody."

I have zero belief that she is actually retiring -- she hasn't mentioned it since the beginning of school that I've heard of.

Exactly. Latest rumor is that she is going to stay “one more year.” I know so many people hate her, but I actually adore her, so this is good for my family.

I'm interested in what you love about her. I don't hate her, but I find her to be performative at best, and unhinged at times regarding some odd stuff. I do think she hires well -- our teachers have all been top notch.

Just saw this question... she hires and retains AMAZING teachers. The teachers are happy and enthusiastic and super engaged - that is really important to me. I would much rather have a principal who supports their teachers and keeps great ones than a principal who panders to parents. And in CC... whew, there are some *special* parents. I know that is why a lot of families have a hard time at CCES, though - she really is all about the exceptional students and running a tight ship. Anyone who deviates has a hard time gaining traction.

And, yes, some of her more recent rants have been tone deaf. (Yes, send your kids with a healthier lunch, fine, but the email was super condescending without a lot of facts...)

Does anyone know why the Hallie Wells MS principal abruptly announced her retirement in March? Why not wait till the end of the school year?

We've had some terrific teachers at ths chool and some meh teachers. This year has not been great. But in the end it's only three years and the school is fine -- definitely hoping that she does actually move on this year, but I haven't heard anything recentlh so think she's probably going to stay.

If you know you're retiring, why wait? Now the county has more time to fill the position.

No, the county has less time. The Principal announced she would be leaving in March.
