Yes of course. One pit bull means ALL pit bulls are armed and dangerous. no generalizing here! |
#notalllandmines Another fatal attack. https://fox59.com/indiana-news/woman-killed-child-bit-in-dog-attack-on-indys-east-side/ |
How many pit bulls are there? Shouldn't there be MILLIONS of attacks/deaths if they were killers? |
How many bites to humans and mauled to death cats and dogs and livestock go unreported? Why do pit bulls account for the lion’s share of bites? |
I would say that because there are lots of mixes that have pit in them that they get blamed. They are the most mistreated animals and yet we are surprised when attacks happen. |
My pit DOES have lab as well as husky in him so he is a pit lab husky mix. |
Having a pit bull as a neighbor is a nightmare. We are a small condo community. In moves large family with a pit bull. We only have one entry door so avoided the dog is impossible. It is not only frightening but I am allergic. One cannot fathom this is what can happen in downtown DC. It must be miserable for a pit bull to be in small condo without any outdoor space. But to foist all the noise, dander and waste materials on a condo is deplorable. People must be considerate of others. |

You resurrected a dead thread to claim you're allergic to "pit bulls"? "Pit bull" haters are all hyperreactive, mentally unstable fraidy cats who need to calm the eff down and mind their own business. "Noise, dander and waste materials" "foisted" on a condo? Were they throwing dog shit at the walls?! And you'd be okay with it from any other breed, just not a "pit bull" (which isn't even a breed). Anti-pit posters reveal their low intelligence near-immediately. Be considerate of others and get a hobby that isn't posting ill-informed drivel on anon boards, you spineless nosy parker. |

The condo's rules don't seem to preclude owners/renters there from having a dog, so the Jesus OP needs to find a way to fortify themselves and deal with it. This doesn't belong on a pit-hate thread, it belongs on a "dumb things stupid people whinge about" thread (dummy). |
Friend adopted a stray pitbull mix mutt. Very visibly pitbull.
Kids in the house. After 2 weeks, the dog attacked, and put one of the kids in the hospital. |
Didn't happen because the dog was a pitbull. Probably didn't happen at all... Did your "friend" crate train the dog? Was the dog leashed during those two weeks? What's the dog's backstory/history? Does your friend have experience rehabilitating dogs? Why was the "pitbull mix mutt" that is "very visibly pitbull" in range of her kids 2 weeks after coming out of a shelter/stray environment? You don't let a new dog, of any breed, have this kind of access to kids. You, the responsible owner, control your animal, because ALL DOGS CAN BITE. Dogs and children are both unpredictable, and both require supervision that clearly wasn't being provided. But it didn't happen to "your friend" because it didn't happen at all. You're just the same stupid troll, resurrecting a dead thread so you can shittalk "pit bulls" because you have a problem you need to go to therapy about. |

I wouldn’t characterize myself as anti-pit bull but do like science and data. As a self proclaimed intelligent person, you must embrace the same view and have a superior education to show for it. Waiting to hear on those details. Temple Grandin, one of the foremost animal behaviorist, is long of the opinion that pit bulls are significantly more dangerous to both other animals and people than almost all other breeds. There is a reason, she relates, that 1/3 of the fatal attacks on people the past decades have come from pit bulls. Other negative statistics abound, but even if one disagrees as to the weight to give them, the statistical disparities are significant and make it difficult to argue they are illusory. I will cast my lot with Temple Grandin than someone who without basis calls people on message board in-intelligent. Maybe they just disagree? Of course Grandin concedes that poor owners play a role. But that is the point. With an animal bred for aggression which gives limited or no warning in many cases, there are not many people with specific expertise to properly handle them. How is the public to know? So in the end outcomes really matter, no matter the cause, and they are poor. Observing that data doesn’t make someone not intelligent , just observant. |

[/quote] Twatty, I googled your alleged Temple Grandin claim, and found nothing of the sort. The only thing I found that comes even remotely close, this: https://www.powells.com/post/interviews/the-powellscom-interview-with-temple-grandin, says the following: "Grandin: I am very concerned about the restricted life that we give dogs. I recently had a person in England interviewing me, and in England, when you go to the regular park, not the dog park, you're allowed to have your dog off the leash as long as you're there with it. That's better for the dogs. Our dogs are living such a controlled life that they're having more and more behavior problems, because they don't have a doggie social life. When I was a child, all the dogs ran loose. The bad side was that lots of dogs were killed by cars. But on the upside, these animals had a really great doggie social life, and therefore a great quality of life. When a new dog came into the neighborhood that was young, the older dogs put him in his place and taught him social manners. We didn't have all these problems with dog bites. We had three simple rules we learned as kids: Do not bother a dog when he's eating. Don't poke him while he's sleeping — let sleeping dogs lie. You could call him to you, but don't go up and poke him. And don't pet strange dogs you don't know. We followed those rules, and we didn't have all these behavior problems. The other problem we've got today is people deliberately breeding criminal animals. If they ban pit bulls, there will be some other kind of dog that they're going to totally ruin. It's just criminal, what some people are doing. They're deliberately breeding dogs for very aggressive traits. I heard one horror story from a shelter where there were a whole bunch of puppies that were eight weeks old, from a drug dealer's big-headed pit bull, and every single one of them was sent back for biting. That's genetics." None of that supports your so-called point. Cite facts or GTFO with your unintelligent fearmongering. |
Only sociopaths would choose to own pit bulls today. They are specifically bred for their violence. The people that choose to own this breed are vile, reprehensible trash. All of them. |
