Please continue to think this and stay the entire fsck away from me and my mixed-breed dog who is probably part "violent".

Ignorant fscking clown.

Agree with first poster. The profanity spewing reply only illustrates the trashiness of said owners. Enjoy your "pibble"... Until it rips your face off.

Yours first, if you believe this nonsense thread.

Good. I hope we continue to hold owners accountable for these attacks. What is sad is there had been previous reports of the dogs being aggressive. I think we need local laws that makes it easier for aggressive dogs to be taken out of homes. This could have been prevented.

I hope these people rot in prison.

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-09-08/pitbull-that-fatally-mauled-4-year-old-girl-in-san-joaquin-valley-was-her-family-dog

Since Zoey, 4, was adopted two years ago, she and the pit bull were constantly together.

But last week, the dog turned on her, as she was getting out of a kiddie pool …

An investigation found no evidence of neglect or criminal wrongdoing, and the dog had no history of violence or aggression …

“She and the dog were inseparable,” Vargas said. “They played with each other, they were around each other and the dog was always super playful. We have literally no clue why the dog did this, or turned on her in this way.”

This is awful. Another family “pet” that mauled a child to death for no reason. I’m sure the apologists will come out and blame the child for getting out of the pool too fast.

The thing I always think about when people post clickbait stories as "evidence" is how easily you're led by your emotions.

These aren't facts, they're stories. "nobody knows why the dog attack" and you immediately jump to "because it's a pit bull" and hate 5 distinct breeds of dogs as a result.

It's almost impressive how gullible you are, but the same fear and lack of critical thinking skills go to the polls with you, and you're manipulated there the same way.

I could say the same for the owners of the off-leash dogs I encounter on walks in the DC metro area. The judge's point is clear: "Mr. Moreno, Ms. Schnieder, this is about responsible dog ownership," the judge said. "It involves not only taking care of your dog, but ensuring the safety of the people in our neighborhoods, in our communities."

Not the breed. The irresponsible owners.

Good, I’m fine holding all owners accountable. But I also think aggressive dogs should be put down before they attack, possibly kill someone.

No I’m not being manipulated by emotions. Just now googling “dog attack” there are 2 news stories posted within the past 6 hours involving pit bull attacks (a woman in Washington and a child in San Antonio). Yes my natural emotion is to feel upset and wonder how we can prevent this but it is logic dictating that certain breed characteristics are disproportionately involved in these attacks. You’re the one being blinded by your emotional attachment to these dogs and unable to assess dog bite statistics.

Clickbait does not fact make.

Two "news stories" (did you check credibility before calling them news?) involving "pit bull" attacks.

"Pit bull" isn't a breed, so you're sus from the jump. As for your projections about "dog bite statistics"...

You'd need to get a credible survey of the total number of dogs and and accurate listing of their breeds. Good luck.

Then, you'd need a credible inventory of all dog bites, and a way to rank them, unless you're just counting bites in general (in which case, it's chihuahuas).

And still, even if you had that information (which you don't), you'd have to factor in how the dogs were bred, raised, kept, trained and handled.

Maybe, MAYBE, after you had all of that, you could credibly blame "pit bulls" as a group (still not a breed).

But no. You googled your "research", found 2 stories (not facts, stories), and made up your mind.

This isn't intelligent, logical evaluation, even if you feel like it is.

Almost no one walks a dog of any type off leash here - it's not the culture, and it's stupid because of traffic and congestion -- let alone a pit bull.

But there you have it.

But has it bit anyone's face off? Or even run into traffic?

Hate them. As a runner, I have been confronted with them and have have had several friends attacked. Luckily they lived. Ugly and mean.

Owner of the dead dog was traumatized, police were called, etc. My kid was a tween and was upset by it all.

Same thing happened just outside my neighborhood. Neighbor with the most adorable small dog that we all loved was walking it on a leash and a guy who let his pit off leash saw the dog and killed in so fast there was barely time to react.

It's like you signed your comment "-ugly and mean" "Several friends" attacked, eh? And you're sure they were all attacked by "pit bulls"?

All off-leash dog owners are ugly and mean, regardless of the breed of dog. Address the actual source of the problem.
