Want to criticize pitbulls? Do it here!

This won’t stop people from bringing pits up on other threads.

Can we complain about pitbull owners instead (thinking of a ggw/SS pit bull owner in particular)

I’ll say whatever I want in any thread I please. But for now, I’ll say they should be spayed and neutered out of existence, both the pit bulls and their idiot owners.

I encountered a loose pit this morning on my walk. Scared the hell out of me as I wasn’t carrying any mace. Poor thing was weaving in and out of traffic and came up to me several times. It was a very sweet dog, but I could never feel safe around them, especially one that’s either a street dog or has shitty owners.

They’re too much dog for most people’s needs and it’s stupid to let southern backyards breed all the dogs for the suburban Northeast. If people don’t want a bunch of puppies euthanized, the right thing is to advocate for not breeding them and policies to prevent it. Shipping all the puppies north instead of developing a market for responsible breeding is stupid and counterproductive in the long term.

My neighbor was crying to me that "all the moms around here are snobs" because she is having trouble setting up playdates/making mom friends.
Me: "Do you think it's possible that they're worried about your dog?"
Her: "No of course not. He's as sweet as can be"
I won't let my kids go in her yard and it looks like others feel the same.

I've been around dogs my whole life. Goldens, terriers, a big sweet Newfie, a rescue greyhound.

The big scar on my arm is from a pitbull that attacked me when I was babysitting (I babysat in other houses with dogs too, this was the only one that attacked me). I've personally experienced that whole "lockjaw" effect on my arm.

Yeah I'd never let my kid go to a home with a pit. Especially with an owner who seems so clueless. No way. And I love dogs. But people with these rescue pits don't know what they have and i won't risk it.

Not the point of the thread, but I’ve been so impressed by her attitude. And her surgeon did an amazing job (the top pic in the article isn’t current).

They should all be euthanized. Even if they're only partly. I have children, and will not take them to areas that permit dogs

I love pits. Sorry folks.

I hope one never attacks you. Truly. My coworker had a "sweet" pit for more than five years that showed zero signs of aggression but one day attacked her and she ended up needed 70+ stitches. The dog likely would have killed a child. You cannot trust a pit, ever.

I was coming here to post this. Heartbreaking. Not even 1 week into 2023 and a child was killed by a pit.
