Did your "friend" crate train the dog? Was the dog leashed during those two weeks? What's the dog's backstory/history? Does your friend have experience rehabilitating dogs? Why was the "pitbull mix mutt" that is "very visibly pitbull" in range of her kids 2 weeks after coming out of a shelter/stray environment?

You don't let a new dog, of any breed, have this kind of access to kids. You, the responsible owner, control your animal, because ALL DOGS CAN BITE. Dogs and children are both unpredictable, and both require supervision that clearly wasn't being provided.
