You're not your own boss if (a) you have to give a cut of your sales to someone else and (b) you have to recruit other people who have to then give a cut of their sales to you and your boss and your boss's boss.

This lady I wasn't fond of called me up to attend some travel MLM. Since it was a boring Friday night I went and took a friend. I purposely left my purse in the car telling my friend she should do the same. She didn't. There were probably 30 people there. We came early, and she actually offered her friend standing next to me some wine, but not me or my friend. My friend couldn't believe it, but I did warn her. They wanted a good sum of money upfront to sell for them, it was crazy. My friend said she would try it to my shock, and amazement. Handed over her credit card, and the rest of the group said they were going to think about it. After that she was offered all kinds of wine etc. It was hysterical.

The next day later in the afternoon I got a call from MLM lady saying my friend changed her mind and stopped the charge. I told her I didn't know anything about it, but she wanted me to talk to her, lol. I told her she probably looked into it and felt it was too much of a commitment. Then got off the phone and laughed my head off. She was the popular one at their party, and knew they were all connivers. Well played.
