I don’t care if it’s online, in person, via email, via Facebook, via carrier pidgeon. I don’t care if your product is old, new, different, better, or “not an mlm.” Nobody and I mean nobody except maybe your mom wants to buy your crap. And probably she’s just being nice.
Please, for the love, just STOP. |
People are still doing that? They never learn, do they? |
I sell Rodan and everyone loves coming to my parties. So maybe it’s just YOU |
I just ignore but I'm kind about it - they are mostly poor SAHM trapped and desperate for $. |

HAHA. Hey, Hun! Yeah, no, they don’t. They feel obligated. Nobody wants your overpriced MLM crap. |
I want to go to a pampered chef party. Ooes anyone still do that? I liked that one. |
I grew up as a kid in the ‘70’s w/a Mom who threw the absolute best Tupperware parties.
Lots of friends, good food + fun games w/prizes, etc. I had zero idea it was all a sham. 😧 |
YMMV but I’ve had the opposite experience: a big pharma sales rep (she had a lot of parties), lead software engineer with 15+ years of experience in IT, organization behavior consultant employed by an FFRDC, operations engineer at an FFRDC, and an IT director for a large federal contractor just to name a few. I know of one SAHM who was with an MLM. This excludes people I remember from childhood who had Avon, Tupperware, MaryKaye, Hoda, Stanley Home Products or scented candles. Actually I didn’t know the reps. Only that my mom and grandma were invited to these parties. |
If you’re selling flying monsters, I would definitely love the party. I wouldn’t buy one though. |
I would totally buy Mothra on an installment plan. |
These are bad enough in person, but there’s at least the possibility of booze and maybe socialization with a friend or two as a trade off for listening to some bs and feeling compelled to buy overpriced junk.
But virtual? Hell no. How awkward. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Is that part of your script? |
I should add that I have two colleagues who joined the MLMs who don’t sell to anyone to support hobbies: one is an IT small business owner who was big into scrapbooking and an engineer who is into making handmade cards which she’s been doing for 20+ years. Not sure that the first one is still scrapbooking with paper; the second is definitely still into it. |
Eh, it's more of an excuse to socialize and mingle. And in your case, a chance to brag and nsme drop about how important you are bc you're a(n) XYZ or work at 123. |
