Wondering how they’re going to pull this off as I always thought any type of phone use/recording wasn’t allowed and that the sororities would never allow a real documentary to be made about rush. But could be interesting nonetheless! Who else is planning on watching??? |
| I feel like I got enough from tik tok tbh, on to the next thing. |
| Will definitely watch this. |
| Absolutely will watch. Greek life was low key at my college so it’s wild to see what goes on in SEC schools. Also curious about repercussions for the documentary participants. |
| The sororities were on to them. The filming only happened on day one. They knew about it and the hbo snoops asked such stupidly obvious questions they were easy to spot and escorted out. This is a big nothing burger that hbo has been trying to do for years. |
There’s probably not behind the scenes footage from active members in houses, I’m sure, but I’ll still be watching. They have previous rushes and alums involved. The entire culture of sororities and fraternities is so strange and fascinating to me. I want to hear all about the sordid history. |
| I was in one of the big sororities at Alabama and graduated 6 years ago. What do you want to know? |
This is the problem, I don’t think I have any questions. |
What happens if a physically disabled woman rushes? |
| I’ll probably watch but hate myself for doing so. It just gives these attention whores more attention and celebrates girls whose whole lives have been spent preparing for this silly ritual with the ultimate aim of snagging a husband. |
Are you asking if accommodations are made due to the physical requirements to get between houses or if the houses are ADA compliant? |
So you did not receive a bid. My condolences. |
| Our country really is obsessed with stirring up drama about Greek life. I was in a sorority at an SEC school and it’s really just not that dramatic. Most people who rush want to make friends and have fun. Most members aren’t overly invested in all things Greek life but show up to the fun stuff. Most members don’t care about race. It’s not that complicated. |
DP. I thought if you fully participated in formal recruitment/rush, did all the visits you were supposed to, ranked every house that you were still in for at every round, that you were guaranteed a bid somewhere? That’s how my college did it at any rate, granted Greek life was NOT as big of a thing there. And half the houses wouldn’t have a full pledge class anyway so you could get in by informal recruitment in the winter too. I guess my point is people make it a big dramatic thing but if your only goal is to get a bid SOMEWHERE and just be in Greek Life … you can follow the rules to the letter and get that bid. |
| Ooohhh I'd love to do a tell all about my sorority in the 90s at VT! Sisters stealing money from the sorority funds, boyfriend swapping, coke, molly, hazing.... |
