| These videos promote the sisterhood with bikinis and skimpy outfits and interlaced fingers and flirting with the camera? Is this for HS girls who envision going to college to join the hot girl sorority? I guess this is aspirational for some. There must be a variety of promotions out there. |

+1. I'm white and was recruited by AKA but also didn't join for financial reasons. It's a black sorority but isn't anti white, in my experience. |

You wouldn’t understand. No need to fret, because if your kid didn’t go to Westlake, Highland Park or a select few other TX high schools, they’ll be lucky to get into a sorority at UT. |

This is simply not a true blanket statement. While there is partying with fraternities I never felt that we were being set up to marry. It was more of a hook-up than marry culture. Here's what I can tell you about rush, from the rushee side it was tough. By the end, I was super exhausted. It was hard to "be on" for all the parties. After I got my bid there was a party with a frat where one of my exes lived (so not bid day). It was too much and I just left and went to see other friends. The next day I saw a friend who was also Greek and told him I was thinking of dropping out. He advised me to stay in at least as long as I spent rushing. It was great advice and I stayed in for 2 years (I rushed as a sophomore and dropped out as a Sr. as I did not want to live in the house a second year). I would say it was mostly good times. As a sister rush was interesting. I honed my small talk skill and learned how to keep track of details about people I only briefly met so I could recall them when we met again. We had a sign that if you were struggling with a convo you could pull on your chain (discretely) and someone would join you. I still have this habit today, though nobody rescues me. I remember minimal hazing, just some drinking. But there was always drinking. Football pre-party was drinking in the morning, other parties were day and night drinking. But if you didn't want to drink it wasn't a big deal. Anyone else remember century club? And of course beer pong and flip cup. Good times. I think at a large school greek life makes it feel a bit smaller. And like anything else in life, you get out of it as much or as little as you put into it. I am still close to my big sister, but we were friends before I joined and I am facebook friends with my little sister. Sadly one of my sorority sisters recently died of cancer. We took up a collection to help her daughter with college. All these years later there was still a bond. I am sure the documentary will show the worst side of rush and maybe things have gotten worse over the years. I guess we will find out later this month. BTW I did not go to an SEC school but it was a Big10 school with a large Greek community. |

The marriage thing is highly outdated. 50 years ago sure. Not now. Most women are not getting engaged in college or even marrying their college boyfriend. Of course they still socialize with fraternities because it’s fun, but it’s really more of a hook-up or casual dating culture. |

Yes they are in the deep south. And by that I mean, right after college. “Ring by spring” is still very much a thing. Mormon women marry in college. |

Most mormon women are going to marry that young whether or not they’re in a sorority. In the rest of Greek life it really only happens in the Deep South and still isn’t the majority of women. Just because it still happens doesn’t mean it’s the current norm for Greek life or its purpose, as PP suggested. |

I don't understand how this imagery is meant for other young women. The college students are giggling into each other's hair and the long line of them in shorts from behind. Looks geared to a male audience. |

If you aren’t: cute, thin, spray-tanned, from a wealthy family that gives you a liberal allowance, a decent student, well-connected/known personally or by association from high school, country club, etc. the top choices are unrealistic for you. |
