Wow! |
The most SHOCKING thing is Montgomery County citizens are putting up with this. I guess they’re too busy to do anything about it. Those poor children deserve better. |
| The way the County is carrying on you would think it was an SRO who shot a child in school. What is going on?! |
Is the racial framing (falsely) re: school safety really one people are going to sacrifice the safety and education of their kids over? Or is everyone just gonna go private? |

Kids reported someone knocking on doors, presumably the shooter. Unfortunately, one teacher, against the protocol, finally let him in. Had he been trapped in the hall as is the intent, it would all have gone much more quickly and the other students in the class would not have been put at risk.
When are parents going to push back on basic safety in schools. If not now, when? |
omg.. those kids in the classroom must've been even more scared once SWAT busted in, which I realize that needed to be done. Just a total f*up on so many levels by the adults in the schools, and the kids who were witnesses. Those kids are going to have PTSD for a while. |
To be clear it was SWST that scared them and caused the trauma. |
| Friends of the shooter should have alerted the school something was going to happen in the bathroom. The confrontation meeting was planned… wonder if it was during the lunch break? Kids these days are so ruthless. |
NO, it was the shooter shooting a kid in the school that caused the trauma. The teacher violating protocol and letting in the shooter to a class he was not even supposed to be in that caused the trauma. SWAT had to extract the shooter from a classroom, they were batting cleanup. Had there been no shooter, no trauma. Had the shooter been contained in the hallways, less trauma and an entire class not put at risk with a gun sitting on the floor for 2 hours. |
sure, I mean, I guess SWAT could've just nicely knocked on the door and asked the shooter nicely to give himself up without hurting anyone. Because all criminals are so selfless and compassionate and wouldn't hurt anyone else. /s |
No! It was the shooter who cased them trauma. |
MCPS lost my child with a disability on a school day. MCPS cares nothing about student safety. |

I’d be interested in hearing the rationale for using SWAT in this way. I don’t know why they couldn’t do something like make a PA announcement that says they are going to dismiss by individual classroom and teachers should release students one by one and students should leave belongings in classroom. Then have the officers waiting in the hallway to nab him as he comes out. If he hadn’t already grabbed a hostage, seems like the thought he was clear and would not have grabbed a hostage on his way out.
I assume the teacher at least texted his specific location in the classroom so the swat team knew where to look and aim as they entered—but of course the kids didn’t know that. |
They couldn't do that because, hey, he had a FIREARM and they didn't at that time know what the threat to everyone might be. Really. I am amazed. |
