How long will the shutdown last?

The leaks that the Mueller report will say that Trump was working with Putin to destabilize the US might lead some GOP Senators to finally connect the dots. Because this shutdown is certainly destabilizing America.

The government is not opening anytime soon. Signed--Donald j. Trump.

President Trump said on Monday that he has rejected a proposal by Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina to temporarily reopen the government in an effort to jump-start talks with Democratic lawmakers on funding a border wall.

“I did reject it,” Mr. Trump said of the proposal, speaking to reporters as he boarded Marine One outside of the White House, en route to delivering a speech to a farm convention in New Orleans.

In an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Mr. Graham, a close ally of the president, pitched Mr. Trump on a plan for the president to agree to a vote by Congress to reopen the government for about three weeks “before he pulls the plug on the legislative option.” If there was no progress made during that time, Mr. Graham said, the president could then declare a national emergency as a way to obtain funding for a border wall without congressional action.

But Mr. Trump said that he did not want to extend the impasse over funding for the wall. It was not clear, however, what Mr. Trump saw as an alternative. “I’m not looking to call a national emergency,” he said on Monday. “This is so simple you shouldn’t have to.”

At some point the GOP is going to have to put on their Big Boy Pants and move forward without the President.

The country is waiting.

Showing he is a man who doesn't know how to govern, only destroy.

The GOP needs to step up and force a reopening of the government. It’s shameful.

Trump has reportedly compromised on his number and agreeing to steel instead of concrete. Is he being clownish and weird? Yes? Do I give a flying f about this wall/fence/thing? No. But it’s time for the Democrats to compromise in turn. Do it for the furloughed feds.

He Lost 10 points with white, non-college educated people. Not mixed.

That's why he's tweeting like a maniac now.

Mixed in the sense that the numbers are not great for Democrats either. Give him an offer of $500 million more for a fence.

They are about 20 points greater than the GOP's and Trump. That's a big difference.

Not so in the cbs poll. But I agree there is no end in sight. And that’s sad.

Polls mean nothing to people who can’t make rent.
McMonnell needs to do his job and pass the BIPARTISAN house bill.

Trump won’t sign it. Not clear as to whether you’re aware of that part.

There’s something called a veto prof majority.
Civics 101.

No way it gets to a veto proof majoriy. It's called basic math. Which you obviously struggled with.

The Senate vote unanimously to avoid a shutdown already, so we know what they want. If the pressure gets too much, they will vote and it will be veto proof again.

You said this last week. It isn't going to open. Conservatives want illegal immigration because the wall won't stop anything. Conservatives want open borders.

A couple big agencies need to go on strike. Yes, I know they are forbidden but FFS, at this point, who wants to keep working for free? Plus I’d love to see them try to hire new air traffic controller’s or border security.

Reagan did.

Holy crap. They were ballsy back then.

Robert Poli, president of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO), sought an across-the-board annual wage increase of $10,000 for the controllers, whose pay ranged from $20,462 to $49,229 a year. He also sought a reduction of their five-day, 40-hour workweek to a four-day, 32-hour workweek. The FAA made a $40 million counteroffer, far short of the $770 million package that the union sought.

This is not true. Most of the furloughed workers are outside of DC area. American farmers also care about the shutdown since it is hurting them.

Only 15% of federal workers are in the DC metro area (DC, MD, No. VA)

Yes, but it’s only 800K people out of 320 million. And it has gone on for almost a month. How long do you honestly expect people to care?

Nice try.
The effects are growing exponentially all across the country. And people blame Trump and his Repub minions.

Sorry, but no. Airport security lines are short, planes are flying normally, and the National Mall is trash free, contrary to what the Fake News media would have you believe. The President has the upper hand on this one and can easily keep the shutdown going without losing support. In fact, it’s what his base expects and demands. Stand strong, Mr. President!

Airport in Houston just closed a checkpoint due to staffing shortage. Second airport to do this since Friday.

Nobody cares about Miami. Not PP and not me.

You think people don’t care about limited flights to Miami in January? Can’t speak for Houston, it is awful but I guess people still need to go there.

Now it has come to Dulles.

Americans are taking the conman at his words(that he is proud to take ownership for the shutdown, for once he didn't lie) and blaming him for the shutdown.

So sooner or later the GOP will pressure him to end his ego boost shutdown
