How long will the shutdown last?

Per the Axios article (previously cited), the WH has no strategy or endgame but is going to try inviting newly elected Democrats to the WH to woo them, hoping that they'll abandon Pelosi but not expecting it.

What newly elected Senator would vote for his wall? There’s no way he’s getting enough votes in the House. That have 8 Republicans on their bipartisan bill.
Trump has NO IDEA how government works.

The WH has indicated that even with funding for the wall, Trump will keep the government closed.

I think meadows said something similar. This shutdown has the tea party’s sticky fingers all over it. McConnell better step up or they will keep doing this

The pain being inflicted on American citizens is by design. Tturmp and tea party are just cruel.

No. But it’s time for the Democrats to compromise in turn. Do it for the furloughed feds.

He Lost 10 points with white, non-college educated people. Not mixed.

That's why he's tweeting like a maniac now.

Mixed in the sense that the numbers are not great for Democrats either. Give him an offer of $500 million more for a fence.

They are about 20 points greater than the GOP's and Trump. That's a big difference.

Not so in the cbs poll. But I agree there is no end in sight. And that’s sad.

Polls mean nothing to people who can’t make rent.
McMonnell needs to do his job and pass the BIPARTISAN house bill.

Trump won’t sign it. Not clear as to whether you’re aware of that part.

I would ask that the TSA shut down Reagan National for flights or use a skeleton crew. That will convince the members of Congress to negotiate.

Or give Trump justification to declare a national emergency.

At this rate Trump will decide the entire government is essential to protect life and government property. I’m sure he would love to have the entire government up and running with no one being paid. It’s so embarrassing for Trump.

That would mean McConnell would have to man up and let a bill go to vote and the GOP will have to man up and vote for the bill. THE GOP Senators need to push through the compromise, but they are afraid.

When are GOP senators going to overthrow McConnell? He's a terrible Senate leader and has shirked his Constitutional duties.

I can't imagine that the more moderate GOP Senators are going to allow this BS go on for much longer.

McConnell isn’t leaving his shell this shutdown.

Terrible is in the eyes of the beholder. He has put two conservative justices on the Supreme Court and a 3rd is in sight.

The rest of it is just fluff.

At some point the GOP will get hammered enough about the Government being closed that more Senators will need to flip. This is not a popular shutdown, and people are hurting, not just in this DC area but in other parts of the country. Food pantries are running out of food, mortgages are not being paid and even non-feds are suffering the ripple effects.
