First, Gonzaga, St Stephens, Prep, Bullis were all down this year compared to the past. Not trying to take away from their season but to beat the second best team in this area by 11 shows that maybe the 2017 classes at these other schools were weaker than usual. In 2015 Landon beat Gonzaga at Georgetown 7-6 Landon was #2 and Gonzaga #4 at the time in the country. Landon had no opponent that was as good as that Gonzaga team this year.

Gonzaga Dad: stop talking about your 2015 team. You were the 3rd best team in the DC region that year behind Prep and Landon. To say Landon had no opponent on their schedule as good as the Gonzaga team in 2015 just show how bias you are.

For starters, Bullis was extremely talented this Spring. Brunswick from Connecticut and Saint Ignatius from San Francisco were arguably the two top teams the Bears played this Spring.

What is going to be your excuse next year when Gonzaga gets worked? The area is down again?

First I am actually a Landon alum and hate giving Gonzaga credit but they were the team to beat based upon all the forums and post articles that year. Again this Landon team was vicious but to act like the 2015 team didn't play just as tough competition is laughable. Landon 2015 beat St.Marys, the eventual MIAA champion, by 9 goals.. Ok my rant is done GO BEARS!!!

Yikes, I hope not. Our coach is great and our son loves playing for him and his assistant coaches! Despite all the flak our team seems to be getting on this board from kids on other teams we still had a strong season. We're in this for the long haul not a flash in the pan.

There is. It is called the NCAA Division I lacrosse championship. No need for high school kids to lose more school time to such a tournament. High school sports should be about local and regional bragging rights. There have always been arguments about whether team A in Upstate NY would beat team B in Baltimore. Part of the fun.

That is such a moronic and old fuddy-daddy response. Its something the kids would love. Lax is growing. Its a great idea.

High school kids would also love getting to order beer in the lunch room. (And, by the way, the idiom is "fuddy-duddy.") Don't hold your breath on this one, junior.

Landon #1 in 3 of 4 national polls and #2 in the fourth. Greatest team in FMV history.

Switching gears for a minute, I have a question for your lacrosse moms and dads. How many of you with middle school-aged players communicate with your kids' coaches? Whether club or school? If you do, do you feel it hurts your kids, or helps? Do you do it only to butter up the coach and try to get your kid some attention? Do you do so when you feel there is an issue? I am having an issue and know I cannot talk to the coach, so I am seeking a venting and feedback place here until my disappointment subsides.

As a middle school lacrosse coach, here is my rule of thumb....

Always come to me to talk about your sons well-being, or how to improve.

Never come to me to talk about your sons playing time.

But if a parent comes to you asking "what can kid do to improve?"...isn't that just a veiled way of saying "why isn't he playing?"

Can a guy who is basically a FOGO make a legit claim to the All Met POY? I agree he is a SICK FOGO but he is just that - a Face-off, Get-off guy. Not a knock, it is an amazing specialized skill (and one that I lacked as a middie growing up) and he is beyond impressive at it.

Brunswick would struggle to be a top 3 team in the IAC this year...and this is coming from a Brunswick alum who only sees the school through rose colored glasses. Landon handles them (that we know). Bullis likely does as well. And then having to face the caliber of teams like SSSA, Episcopal, and Prep night in and night out would make it rough on them.

Brunswick was the best team Landon faced all year. They would have ran through the IAC this year. EHS and Prep were BAD this year.

Shockey had over 40 points for the Bears this Spring - he is more than a FOGO. He or Epstein will get Wash Post POY.

Brunswick would likely beat Bullis. Brunswick plays a tough out of conference schedule and then their league schedule with Salisbury, Taft, Avon, Deerfield, etc. That NE West Lacrosse Division is loaded. Just check to see where their kids play in college.

Brunswick and Saint Ignatius were the two best teams Landon Played all year, and Gonzaga was the third toughest team. GZ at the end of the season was a lot better than at the start of the season. Good coaching Casey.

As someone who attended at least five Brunswick games this year and 3 Landon games (we live in CT but one of our kids goes to Episcopal another to Brunswick). I can say, without hesitation, that while Landon was the best team Brunswick faced all year, the opposite is not at all true. I give credit to Brunswick for doing what the other NE Preps wont do (scheduling decent OOC opponents) but there is a reason they duck the Dariens of the world, even this season in which they have one of their best teams ever. They cannot compete, day in and day out, with an IAC-esque schedule. The talent and depth isn't there. As a one-off, does Brunswick beat EHS, Prep and STA this season? Probably. But, if they had to play Prep, then Episcopal, then Landon, then Bullis, then STA w a similar non-con schedule as the rest of the IAC, 3-2 would be a good conference record for them. Not a knock on the program, just the reality.

Oh, and Shockey had nowhere near 40 points for Landon, pls cite your source on that one. He is more a MF than a traditional FOGO, but he was primarily a FOGO. He would be a deserving POY, although it would be unusual for a specialist to get it, but he doesnt need you inflating his stats to get it.
