That tells you that if you can't play in Baltimore, you can play in DC. No slight to Landon, they are legit. But Baltimore goes so much deeper than one team

Landon doesn't have Baltimore kids on its roster.....

It won't get the easiest play here, but there should be consideration given to some of the very top players in other leagues. The IAC is the best league, with the best team -- no doubt. Ditto that for the top Bullis player who won it last year. But there are some shining stars in the WCAC, the Virginia publics & on the MD public side. Player of the year isn't by default just a player from the best team in the best league. It's a tough call, most certainly two Landon players deserve serious consideration. First team All-Met should easily include kids from other leagues. St Johns won the WCAC & had a couple of standout offensive players. Gonzaga & GP didn't have a great team season by their usual standards but their leading scorers put up monster stats. On the VA public side Cole (Stone Bridge), Petrillo (Westfield), Ammann (Woodgrove) all deserve high All-Met consideration at their position. On the MD public side, Crombie (Churchill) has put together a very impressive season in goal. There are some players with excellent seasons & it'd be deserving for them to be represented in the All-Met.

A FOGO as All-Met POY would be a bit odd considering it is a specialist position, but this might be the year for it. He had a great run & basically gave Landon a huge possession advantage in every game. Giving that attack the ball 5-10 more times a game led to an epic season. Well earned, Landon.

There is. It is called the NCAA Division I lacrosse championship. No need for high school kids to lose more school time to such a tournament. High school sports should be about local and regional bragging rights. There have always been arguments about whether team A in Upstate NY would beat team B in Baltimore. Part of the fun.

lol.....+1000. Leave it to the nutty lax booster dads to take HS sports to the extreme because HS is all about athletics, right? Get a little perspective FFS.

Not a parent but a former student athlete who would have loved this if it could happen. Basketball does tournaments like this, why not Lax?

Although this Landon team ran the table and beat some very good opponents, I wouldn't categorize them as the "best" team to come out of the DMV or Landon. First, Gonzaga, St Stephens, Prep, Bullis were all down this year compared to the past. Not trying to take away from their season but to beat the second best team in this area by 11 shows that maybe the 2017 classes at these other schools were weaker than usual. In 2015 Landon beat Gonzaga at Georgetown 7-6 Landon was #2 and Gonzaga #4 at the time in the country. Landon had no opponent that was as good as that Gonzaga team this year.

That's a fair point. But only so much Landon can do; not their fault the conference and Zaga were less deep this year. Also keep in mind the rap on Landon in prior years like 2015 was they didn't play a top national out of conference schedule, they ducked Culver, Hill, etc. Can't say that now. This year they played some top outside region teams and won them all. If you look at the non IAC schedules, what Landon did this year is more impressive than of they'd gone undefeated in 2015.

Brunswick was probably the best team Landon played. They will finish top 5 if they win out.

What Landon accomplished this year was historic. No team in this area has gone undefeated in the modern area of lacrosse. They played a brutal schedule this Spring and knkocked off everyone in their way. I don't want to hear that this area was down for HS lacrosse. That's a compel cop out and lame excuse.

Why even bring up the Gonzaga 205 team. They weren't that special. They were the 3rd best team in the DC area that year behind Landon and GP.

That is such a moronic and old fuddy-daddy response. Its something the kids would love. Lax is growing. Its a great idea.

Gonzaga Dad: stop talking about your 2015 team. You were the 3rd best team in the DC region that year behind Prep and Landon. To say Landon had no opponent on their schedule as good as the Gonzaga team in 2015 just show how bias you are.

For starters, Bullis was extremely talented this Spring. Brunswick from Connecticut and Saint Ignatius from San Francisco were arguably the two top teams the Bears played this Spring.

What is going to be your excuse next year when Gonzaga gets worked? The area is down again?

Agree that GZ teams in 2015 and 2016 were very talented and the 2016 was the best in the DMV with Bullis a close second. But GZ could not do what Landon did this year--go undefeated against a strong national schedule of opponents. That's why this Landon team will go down as the best DMV ever because it dominated the DMV AND went undefeated against a tough national schedule.

So we know that the new coaches mentioned above were by and large successful. Any other schools going to follow and likely to replace their HC during the off-season?
