Why he won't leave his wife for his mistress

Anonymous
I had a work colleague when I was in my early 20s who had trouble dating. I remember her getting really drunk & complaining to an older female colleague: "They (meaning the rest of her young female coworkers, all of whom were dating/in serious relationships) will all have families! And they will be *terrible* mothers!!!" She seriously thought she was better than the rest of us -- and she, within 2 years, was a) dating a married man and b) studying to be a minister. The woman she confided in also cheated on her long-suffering husband with a member of our board of directors (we all worked at a nonprofit). Her DH died of a heart attack - from the stress of her infidelity? Who knows.... But I think of my former coworker now & again when I am hanging with my family -- my 2 kids & my DH whom I was living with at the time. And I wonder if her 'flock' knows what counsel they are getting from their sage minister....

Agreed. They may have their own spouse they don't want to leave.

Or maybe they are divorced and never want to marry again. In that case, they are not jealous of the wife. They pity her.

They should go after SINGLE guys. If they aren’t married, why are they targeting married guys?? Wtf??

Yes but they are broken in someway. Maybe they can't have real relationships, or sustain them. Someone else's crumbs is probably better than nothing in their book.

Single guys want relationships eventually. Married men don’t. For a woman who does not want to remarry or want a commitment but does not want a sting of single guys, a married guy who does not expect more sounds good. That does not mean they are “broken”—it means they do not want a full-blown relationship they most men eventually want after sex. They older I get, the more attractive this sounds.

Not all women are the same. I understand why a married man would be a good option for some women.
I would not divorce over an affair. I told my DH that years ago. There is more to marriage than sex. Some people do not care. I would not. I also can see why being a mistress can keep a man in a marriage he would otherwise leave and in that case, the wife and kids should be thanking her for avoiding a divorce.

Not everyone views marriage as some black and white romantic fairytale. Also, blame the person going outside the family (which may be what they need to stay)...that is the person people should blame. Not the OW.

The men put out the vibes. They want the attention. Sure, there are the rare cases where someone meets another person they are drawn to and genuinely fall for, but overall, the men look for it and the women who are willing to play ball find them. There are ways people act when they are happily married or at least content. Those men carry themselves in a certain way- and they don’t make too much eye contact with other women.

I do not believe for a second that a 60 year old man who is gregarious and complimentary towards other women, who goes to the gym every day, dyes his hair to take off a decade or two, grooms very well and is very active on Facebook especially, is doing all of that to impress his aging menopausal wife of 35 years.

When I started cheating, I was sure that I would only hook up with married women. On dating sites, and not just AshleyMadison, I pursued the married women I eventually hooked up with. Meanwhile, about half the women I hooked up were single and they were more likely to pursue me. The ones I got with were pretty much on a break from serious dating and just looking for some NSF sex until the real thing came along again. I felt so used. LOL. But seriously, I really was.

Blame them both. A couple of narcissistic teenagers Stroking each other’s egos.

It’s hard to believe, but many of us have a very healthy sex life with our husbands and they have mental health issues they use whores as their alcohol or quick fix. That’s not saving a marriage, honey. That’s not addressing underlying issues.

Keep thinking they have a magic p@ssy, you don’t. You are a whore getting sloppy seconds who he will discard when he tires of you.

Wtf!?!! Also, dude, seriously, her spouse may be packing heat. You want him coming after you?

Cheaters are like anti-Vax group and faithful are like the pro-vaccine.

The cheaters arguments are just as outlandish and the reasons to justify it.

Look up the Jennair and Mark Geradot case. The OW wouldn't leave them alone even after she confronted her, went to her employer etc. Her DH enjoyed having two women fight over him, even pretending to go to marital counseling but Jennair was a little smarter. Put gps on his car and phone. Finally shot the mistress dead in her own home. On social media most were sympathic toward Jennair, and lots of hate toward her DH and dead co-cheater. This was last year I believe.

Uh, Jennair was also insane and killed herself at the scene.
