My kid was offered FCV and didn’t want to play there due to the environment. So your premise is just wrong. |
I think the argument could be made that if you are hoping to get scouted, being a starter at a club like Loudoun ECNL creates fewer opportunities for being seen that your hypothetical 20-minute reserve at FCV. Very few coaches are coming to watch Loudoun ECNL play. Fact. |
The data is there for everyone to see. No need to speculate.
The best girls on a good DA program can play for D1 schools. But if you are not in the top 11 (starters), it's probably not happening. Count the number of commitments in each class. https://www.fcvirginia.com/page/show/3158219-college-commitments |
Can't speak for Loudoun because I haven't been to an ECNL showcase, but I do know that at despite an average record, many scouts were watching even the U15s from Baltimore Spirit at recent showcases. Seems to me that scouts come because players reach out to them. Less likely that a player is just stumbled upon while a coach happens to be watching. Can it happen -- sure. Your DD might be playing in a showcase even off the bench for FCV or Penn Fusion, etc., against another top level club that has a player who reached out to the scout and the scout might see your DD too. But the venue is probably more relevant than the team -- being at a showcase where the scouts are and doing your advance work prior is how the scout watches you, not because of the record of your DDs team. |
My daughter has played for two of the three clubs you mentioned and can honestly say I've never met anyone who "didn't make the FCV team, so they are annoyed about that" People on this board are reveling in the misfortune of the FCV buyout because pro-FCV parents or coaches or just general trolls have been insufferable on these boards forever! LOL, FCV board trolls have this weird narcissistic complex... not everyone wants to be you. That's why so many different clubs exist and thrive in this area. You guys rail on everyone else for stupid reasons, let us poke our fun at your new commute to Springfield! |
Another example of ignorance here. A large portion of the U19 team isn’t graduating this year. Good try though. |
Except the other classes back to 2011 that make the point obvious. |
Look if you can’t even start on a DA or ECNL club team, who would ever expect to play D1 soccer? No college coach is that desperate. They are watching the starters. Let’s be real here. |
Ok. Let's be real here. This is information is not a secret and easily found on the internet. Look at BDA and GDA teams and their college commitments. Many of them around the country have D1 soccer commitments for many more than the starters. Bethesda BDA is an easy one to research for class of 2019. Here, I will do the work for you so you can stop showing everyone your ignorance. https://www.bethesdasoccer.org/?page_id=1712 So that is the BDA. Below is Tophat for the GDA. I count 16 commits for the oldest team and another 13 for the U16/17 team and I believe they are all D1 but I am not positive. It is probably safe assumption that the U16/U17 team number will grow before those players age out. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxuxYMjgkWB/?igshid=tnmfus7vslzb The GDA is still only in year 2 and with the oldest age groups (U16, U17, U18 and U19), ECNL is still riding the success that came before the GDA was launched. Anything younger than that, the GDA is far superior in the concentration of talent and that is what matters to scouts - they cannot be in more than one place at a time. For the GDA, the fact remains that player number 15 on a strong DA team is most likely a stronger player than player number 5 on any ECNL team except for a few exceptional ECNL clubs that left the GDA for money and control (PDA is one example) in the eyes of a college scout. In our area, FCV and BA are the two GDAs that seem to be separating themselves from the pack. Arlington's long-term strength in the GDA is TBD but Arlington is a large and well-run club. MU is a mess and right now the only GDA in the area that is not above the local ECNL teams in terms of concentration of talent. For U15 and younger, unless you are commuting to PDA, or you are the parent of an absolute superstar ECNL player, let's get real here - many subs on a top-level GDA team are indeed playing D1 soccer. |
Thanks Bobby for the encouragement. I’ll stay at FCV for my 10-20 minutes a game and all those great practices that still haven’t increased my playing minutes. |
Sorry that facts upset you. My guess is that you didn't even look at the college commits because you are not interested in information, just attention. Try getting out more - you sound sad. |
Above analysis is severely flawed, especially the last paragraph. Please post discrete examples of non-starters playing D1 soccer and explain how that would change for u15 or below. |
Different poster here, I don’t think the other poster is sad, you are just incorrect |
Examples of non starters from local area DAs playing D1, to clarify. |
I said I’m staying based on your “facts”. The fact is I train 4 days a week, I work hard and I am more than happy playing just 10-20 minutes watching FCV win. My parents love paying $6k a year to watch my friends play soccer. They have some great pictures of me cheering them on too. Thanks!! |
