Super thankful that your husband is deaf, huh? Wow. Yeah, your beloved has to navigate this world without the sense of hearing but you got Hamilton tickets! You are just gross. |
Some people, espexially POC in our city, aren't fortunate enough to have Internet access, or a credid card. This Hamilton promotion stinks of institutional racism. |
There are walk-up tickets available to the public the end of march where they can pay with cash. Kennedy center also regularly offers great discounts such as student ID 50% off discounts at the box office There are often free concerts in the lobby area. |
NP. Did you price it out when the original cast was still there? Ticket prices were even more insane. I'll take my overpriced Kennedy Center tickets that are a fraction of the NYC tickets last year. |
I suspect about half the folks in line at 10am didn't get tickets. |
There's also the $10 ticket lottery every night isn't there? |
| Yep, 40 tix per show |
Yes - I got in line at 10:00 (had no idea the "waiting room" opened at 6:00 a.m.!) and got in at 8:15 p.m. There were only the $625.00 tix left so I didn't get them because I already have some from the National Theater subscription, but was trying to get more for a friend. They didn't want to spend that much. |
I had the chance to buy tickets, but as with many folks, the $625 were the only ones left. I was 34k and got in around 8ish too. My sister was 21k and got in around 6ish; only the $625 remained for her too. I've seen the show in Chicago and will be seeing it in NYC soon, so definitely wasn't going to pay premium prices. I do like the woman who is Eliza in this particular tour, so I regret not being able to see her. A friend of a friend got into the waiting room somehow last night at 11pm and got in the 200s. I know they said the numbers assigned were random. What they should've done was make sure only KC members could get into the queue to begin with. And any unfortunate person who needed KC info other than Hamilton got routed into the queue as well. |
| So if I’ve learned anything from the private sale is that for the public sale if they use the same waiting room tactic, I should have at least 5 devices logged into the waiting room? |
Yes, and then email yourself the link from the device with the lowest number. Also begin calling the phone number early and often and if you get through on the phone stay on, but be prepared for a 2 hour wait. Also know that the phone system works differently than the online system. (They cannot search dates like all saturdays, You must give a date.) |
LOL He loves being deaf. Just because you can't hear without assistance doesn't mean you have to navigate the world without hearing anything. He loves rap and hip-hop, and has been to musicals with me before, and he's super excited to be going since Hamilton is a musical more in his preferred style. You really should get out more and actually talk to deaf people, because you'll find that they enjoy things like this as well. |
I've read the book and have the soundtrack. Does that qualify me for being able to spend my own money on whatever I choose? Don't be so sanctimonious. I do plenty to help the poor, abused, etc. So I spend my own money with no regret. Why don't you give us all a rundown of your charitable acts/givings and what you spend your money on so we can judge whether you're worth to judge others? I'll wait . . . |
Oh I see, if we didn't shell out the big bucks to travel to NYC and see the original cast, it's not "really" Hamilton. GTFO of here. |
I agree PP. We were lucky enough to see it in NY with the original cast, and then again last summer in Chicago. The Chicago show was just as good and in some ways even better. I thought it had a lot more humor (the King George in Chicago was OUTSTANDING) and we're big Karen Olivo fans since her In The Heights days. She plays Angelica in the Chicago production. I also thought the Chicago Eliza was better than Phillipa Soo. Leslie Odom Jr. and Daveed Diggs were the big highlights of the original cast. All of these casts are attracting super-talented people so I think any show you see will have great talent. |
