Well, the seating capacity of the KC opera house is 2,364. If there are 107 performances, that is roughly 253K tickets. If they released half today and are holding half in reserve for the public sale, I'd say you have a decent shot of getting some, but not a shoe in if everyone get the max number of tickets allowed (4). My quick math with these assumptions tell me that about 31.5K people will get tickets, so depending on how many tickets each person gets, I don't think 33K is hopeless. Hang in there, PP!

I also don't think that 33k is hopeless. It sounds like there were a number of people out there who reserved multiple spots in the queue, and probably some people who just aren't willing to wait it out, or maybe missed their spot in line, for whatever reason.

Success! I was able to get 4 tickets total (2 each to two different shows) at the $199 price point. I can't remember rows as I was just trying to hurry as I know others are waiting, too, but I know they are side Orchestra.

I was 18K in line and just spent an hour and 45 min on hold on the phone and got through on the phone before my online number came up. I bet the numbers will start moving faster as I think a lot of people in line online are also trying to get through by phone.

On the other hand, note that I don't think this ticket system is discriminating at all between members (membership alone just costs $60) and season pass holder subscriptions that can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. So if I get tickets out of this with my $60 membership, I will be thrilled!

It does not discriminate
- I got tickets earlier today out of my $60 membership! Good luck you you, PP!

It takes and it takes and it takes...

Sorry, couldn't help myself. "Wait for it" is very apt for today's exercise in patience and nerves.

I was the 15K person and I have tried and tried but was never able to figure out my kennedy membership login. I WAS able to log in under an account, but I don't think it was a membership as I didn't see any way to purchase tickets from it. So I signed out and tried to sign back in under husband's email (where I think our membership is) but we couldn't figure out his password, so tried to reset it, and when we did that it just sent us a link to the queue, not back to the membership page, so we are screwed, and can't get tix at all because now none of our logins work cause we tried to reset the passwords...

I always thought the mega-donors (like $1k and up) had their day before the regular peon members. I do wish there were a formula in place to ensure that long-term peons (have supported for like a decade now) were a little ahead of short-term peons, but meh.

You were the reason they sent out all the emails saying "check and make sure you can log in ahead of time." Sorry that happened - must be frustrating.

From the FAQ:

"When do Hamilton tickets go on sale to the general public?
The on sale date for the general public will take place in late March, 2018. The exact on sale date will be announced 10-14 days prior to the public on sale. A significant allocation of tickets have been set aside for both Member and public on sale dates."

So, there is still hope if you didn't get something today!

I was 16800 and when I went to get tickets almost nothing was available. There were tickets for $119 in Tier 1 but decided to see if there were orchestra tickets available and all that was coming up were $625 tickets (rows P and S). When I tried to get those Tier 1 tickets 20 seconds later they were gone. A couple of times boxes came up at $500. I tried maybe 20 times to get tickets that were decent and didn't cost a fortune. Finally, we got tickets for a Tuesday evening performance in July (I took any performance that was available) row W, center orchestra, for $199 each. I'm not sure how their computer was coming up with tickets. I even limited the price range to $200 but that made no difference. It still came up with $625 seats.

As of tonight, if you are a Kennedy Center supporter, the majority of the tickets left are for most performances, and are in the $625 range, which puts you in the reserved area in the orchestra pit up close. Aside from singles in the nosebleed tiers, that may be your best decision, unless, of course you think you can win the $10 Ham For All lottery which will happen daily this summer. Go get the Hamilton app. Hearing there won't be very much left for the public on-sale and that Kennedy Center broke many sales records today. It might be cheaper to go see the show at Richard Rogers on B'way since at this point, that cast must be better than the touring cast.

I had 2 browsers open at about 8 am. 2 because I thought there was a technical glitch since there was no member log in. The captcha flashed on the one but I didn't have to enter it. Later on at 10 the second browser popped into the virtual waiting room at 16000 less than the other one. Oddly I had to do a password reset.

So I was in the 200's and never got a chance for any 119/ticket in the first tier. I've read comments on the Wash Post where some people who were on the site before 8 am got nothing. Were those 119 tickets together and how many? Groups of 2?

Yah u triggered the spambots, they thought you were a reseller or scalper. Did you see what tickets are already going for on the StubHub market?

... and it raises the stakes. If there's a reason I'm still alive, God Damn It I'm willing to wait for it.

Well, I was ready to beg, steal, borrow, or barter, but instead my friend and I were suckers and bought $625 tickets! Feeling a bit of buyer's remorse, but I'm figuring that's my birthday, Mother's Day, and Christmas gift for 2018. Still going to go for tickets when the regular public sale opens in March. Good luck, everyone!

I got on the site about 9:30am and at 10am was assigned 5,856 or something. At 11:45am I got in and was able to get four $199 tickets for a Thursday in July.

I'm feeling really lucky after reading the posts above.
