Trump and his campaign are now setting up to refuse to participate in the debates...

My God. People are actually defending these complaints about debates conflicting with football games. I know by now I shouldn't be surprised but it's like every day we sink to new levels of stupidity. With three months still left to go.

Trump is asking to move the debate to Tuesday or Wednesday so we have bigger audience to see the debate. And he is the one who is afraid??

Ask Bernie which one is afraid of debate. Better yet ask poor Martin O'Malley, the guy who desperately needed a debate and couldn't get one.

Yes, because he knows they won't move it. Or maybe it's to prove his power that he can force the bipartisan commission to move the debate and blame them if they don't. But also realize this - the last day of baseball season is October 2, so no matter when they schedule the debate, there is a good chance of playoff game. Depending how post-season goes, this would have given Trump an excuse to move the date at the last minute. Jewish Holidays also occur in October this year, so they tried to avoid those as well, and if they hadn't it would give Trump another excuse to move the date. Columbus day is October 10, so another thing to avoid, or not avoid, depending on Trump's whim.

I know three people who worked for the Clintons in three different positions. They all said the same thing - that she was BRUTAL to the staff. I had read somewhere - although I can't find the article - that they each had separate homes. It's a marriage of convenience.

I voted for Bill. So I'm not a "perfect Trump supporter." However, I will not vote for Hillary either.

It's so interesting to see Libs tear apart any criticism of Queen Hillary. Thin-skinned fans, if you're so secure in your decision, then find evidence showing she's the "It Gal" for president. Right now, all I see is compelling evidence illustrating how much she lies and how she can't keep up with her lies.

A. I don't give a fuuuuuuuck if she and Bill live together, love one another, or simply use each other for political gain. Who gives a shit.

B. All politicians lie. It's a sunk cost. It's the game. Anything egregious or beyond the pale is one thing but Hillary doesn't lie anymore than the rest of them do. Even you lie. So give that line a rest.

C. She's been a senator, Secretary of State, AND has eight years in the White House as First Lady with experience in working across partisan lines to get legislation passed. You're right, she's totally not qualified for president.

D. She isn't perfect. Big fucking deal. No voting American is either. You don't get perfection in political candidates. You get a few choices and you pick the best one. If you refuse to vote for Hillary, you are saying (and yes, you are saying this, no matter how much you want to claim you're not) that the MOST qualified woman is still less preferable than the LEAST qualified man.

Not that the schedule was rigged but that it makes no sense for them to be scheduled on days that conflict with football games. Those who were involved in the scheduling know perfectly well that there are NFL games on Sunday and Monday. So they should have scheduled the debates on a different day of the week.

In the Democratic primaries there was a lot of rigging of dates and times for the debates. If the debates are that important both campaigns should want to have them on dates that would ensure maximum viewership.

The debates in 2012 were also scheduled during football games, and ratings didn't suffer.

He will insist on it and refuse to participate without that happening and Johnson as well as Stein will support him for obvious reasons leaving Clinton out in the cold.

The advantages for Trump: he will appear a lot more inclusive than Clinton and will also have the debate time divided up between four candidates instead of two leaving him with less time to have to answer questions. Stein will draw from Clinton's support and Johnson will likely draw from both sides.

Yes, I know that there is a rule about needing 15% in the polls before being allowed to take part. Trump will insist that the rule is out of date and needs to be changed.

The rules have already been solidified on this, too. Any candidate for President has to be polling at 15% or higher to make the debates for the general election. This was decided upon in the same fashion as the debate schedule. You can't just throw the whole thing in the toilet because it no longer suits your needs now.

If trump refuses to appear for the nonpartisan pre scheduled debates, then Hillary should be permitted to show up solo and speak. She should not negotiate on this. You can't appease a tyrant.

I love football as much as the next person, but c'mon! Presidential elections happen once every four years. If you can't miss a game to watch a debate, you can always catch it on youtube later. This is the 21st century, afterall.

I suspect some of the monosyllabic knucle-draggers who would rather watch football have already determined who they're voting for, so I doubt it would make much of a difference.

Next thing he'll do is insist that Johnson and Stein participate. He does better in a circus than one-on-one.

Ok too much energy is being spent on this topic. If Trump wants to sit home and watch his football games, go ahead, Hillary will have the airtime to herself. Does this guy whine every time he doesn't get his way!? At least this will spare the viewers from trying to understand why an angry orange guy with Easter basket yellow hair made it this far along.

Sunday nights are great nights for debates.

NFL games are now on Sunday, Monday and Thursday nights. College games are on Saturday nights. Doesn't leave many nights open for debates.

Umm, Tuesday and Wednesday??

DCUM folks live in such a bubble. The debate were scheduled such that each fell on a different night of the week for a reason. A large (YUGE) number of Americans do not work 9-5 M-F. Do cities, nurses, police, firefighters, EMS, students and teachers with evening classes, janitors cleaning building after hours, people working second jobs. All of these people and many more might work or attend class on an evening/ night/ 12 hour shift every Tuesday and Wednesday night. And unlike football fans, cannot TiVo their jobs/ classes. Spreading the debates out over different night, and scheduling one on a weekend night gives them a chance to watch one or two.

Here's the interesting part. Many people in this situation (working the night shift, working 2 jobs) are blue collar/ Trump's base. So why does he not want them to see him debate.

i know several people that have worked with Bill, Chelsea, and Hillary. And they all respect the family immensely and speak highly of how they have been treated. Also, the Clintons are known for being intensely loyal to their aides. It is one thing I take issue with them, actually. Even if one of their aides/friends/staff makes a dumb mistake (a la McAulliffe) they continue to keep them around.

Still hard to believe. He was supposedly alerted to the scheduling conflict by "someone close to the NFL." If he was a real football fan wouldn't he have realized the scheduling conflict himself? I suspect his team ownership was another ego-booster rather than reflecting any real interest in football.
