Trump and his campaign are now setting up to refuse to participate in the debates...

And BTW-- the debate schedule was announced in September 2015. The football schedule? April 2016. Seems like the NFL could have (gasp) chosen not to schedule key games the same night (and they did-- one of the "games" at issue is Atlanta vs New Orleans. Get back to me when the Deep South is in play in a presidential election).

This would make Hillary pop her clogs. She can't wait to play Scoldy McScold again on TV. Maybe they could get her something on Netflix, Amazon or Lifetime.

Not that the schedule was rigged but that it makes no sense for them to be scheduled on days that conflict with football games. Those who were involved in the scheduling know perfectly well that there are NFL games on Sunday and Monday. So they should have scheduled the debates on a different day of the week.

In the Democratic primaries there was a lot of rigging of dates and times for the debates. If the debates are that important both campaigns should want to have them on dates that would ensure maximum viewership.

This is sheer idiocy given past history and (too many) days with NFL games now.

Trump should want more debates. Clinton should fear them.

I think the sensible answer is that there were zero football games scheduled when the debate schedule was announced.

So the better question: why can't the NFL schedule games on the (365x4) - 4 (too lazy to do math) night in a 4 year cycle when there are not presidential/VP debates?

Whether there were games scheduled at the time or not, it is not great mystery that there are invariably NFL games on Sunday, Monday and Thursday. So why not schedule the debates on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday before the actual schedule is announced?

well, they didn't want friday, so that leaves just tuesday and wednesday

this is a ridiculous issue. Just do the damn debates as they were scheduled.

Nothing ridiculous about it: just change the dates and it ceases to be an issue. Nothing sacrosanct about the dates they selected. Clinton does not have DWS and the DNC making the decision in this instance.

It is so bizarre that he would lie about something so easily contradicted. Is there really nothing that he won't blurt out regardless of the truth??

The same could be said for Hillary.

He's better off if his dipshit supporters are watching football instead of watching Hillary rip him apart.

Because it's a bullshit made-up issue. If it weren't NFL games, trump would be whining about a conflict with baseball games or antiques roadshow or some other crap. He's just looking to be a tease and create drama. He did his same crap with the primary debates.

Trump has sacrificed a lot.

He has sacrificed his marriage - twice - after he found younger mistresses.
He has sacrificed the reputation of USA, because of his general insanity.
He has sacrificed the sovereignty and security of USA, by asking foreign countries to hack DNC.
He has sacrificed good taste, by tanning himself the shade of Doritos and putting the crazy top on his head.
He has sacrificed brain cells so that he can be permanently stupid.
He has sacrificed by not hooking up with his hot daughter Ivanka.

He will NOT sacrifice his chance to watch US sports by debating his political opponent. You cannot ask him to do that. It is too much sacrifice!!!

And you are a moron for arguing about a non-issue.

DWS and the DNC did rig the primary debate schedule timing for Hillary including the number of debates.

Just change the dates and move on - you know the Clinton campaign will cave on this. They want the debates and they don't want to appear to be balking at letting as many Americans watch the debate.

Of course Trump will make new demands once this is out of the way. Does Hillary want debates or not? I think Trump would be fine not to have any.
