OP, "Dare to Forgive" by Edward M. Hallowell, M.D., maybe your library has a copy. Excellent book and a big help. If we don't forgive then we give squatter's rights to our hearts and souls to the people who have hurt us. Again, this doesn't mean we have to become their doormat and it doesn't mean you have to let them into our lives. Forgive him because it is a gift to you but, personally, I would not let him back into my life. We don't get to choose our family members but when they are abusive, once you are grown, you have every right to keep them out of your life.
