Dems will not win the TN-07 house race. Zero chance. That’s ruby red territory

I think the reference is to the typical VA/NJ races that happen the year after the presidential election. Like if Sears wins in VA it would embolden the Rs, whereas if Spanburger wins by double digits, there might be an impact. A Spanburger 6-point win doesn’t move the needle.

If Spanburger wins Trump punishes Virginia by punishing feds into 2026.

This is very sad for VA and for all. What is this guy's/family's life expectancy age?

Psssttt… you think it’s actually Trump doing this? You think he actually cares (or even understands?). Nah, there are others running this particular side show

From who? I don't expect specifics on an anon message board, but is there ANYTHING to what you said or are you just a troll?

Right. Because it’s all about you. Selfish ass.

Why should anyone not impacted by a government shutdown care?

Why care about anything then? Let there be anarchy!

That’s not an answer. I care about things that impact me, my family and friends.

How are you not impacted? It’s an incredible waste of money - very, very expensive. So if you’re a tax payer you’re affected.

Congress has not ability—beyond the Impoundment Control Act—to prevent OMB from acting illegally. This issue will be litigated and resolved in the courts. On the table is a clean CR at Biden era spending levels. Russ Vought is going to do what he wants regardless of what Congress does. This shutdown is doing nothing to rein him in. To the contrary, it is playing into his hands and empowering him, and the inability of Congress to function is justifying the assertion of executive authority.

Not true - Congress has the power to impeach and remove Vought, to defund OMB, to directly control spending etc. They are choosing not to exert control over their own responsibilities, don't give them a pass on that.

Didn't Vought's ex-wife RIF him? Congress should follow in her footsteps.

Don’t bring Mary into this thread, she is free of him.

Again, how is the average American impacted?

It’s not MAGA. I’m not MAGA. Trump is doing some ridiculous stuff. I can’t control that.

The majority of Americans aren’t feeling the shutdown. People care about their bubble. Democrats care about their bubble. Do I care if good people get riffed? Of course. Does that somehow ripple into my life? I sure haven’t seen it yet. So, why should I get worked up about a government pissing match?

Last shut down shrank the economy in a way which it never fully recovered from. Worse economy, worse for everyone.

But on a practical note, when food inspectors leave because they don’t work without getting paid - they have bills too - you are more likely to get sick from an outbreak.

When health experts leave, you are more likely to catch some obscure random disease coming from abroad because nobody monitors the spread and takes measures.

When people making and guarding the nukes have to peace out to pay the bills that is very bad news for everyone (even if none of them get tempted by foreign governments, less security for nukes is not good.)

If you have elderly relatives, they don’t get SSN checks because those workers can’t afford to go without pay and now your mother in law moves in with you.

You like closed borders? Well all the ICE people have bills too and they can’t work for free so they leave and now MS-13 is out to play.

Federal agents investigating and preventing terrorism? They got bills too, they leave? Not good.

Oh, this goes long enough we can’t figure out how to pay our military and have to pull back carriers or w/e and China sees it as a sign of weakness and invades Taiwan which is a global war (even if we somehow decide to sit it out, Taiwan is the main place for super advanced semiconductors which we need for all our cutting edge electronics)

And so on and so forth. You don’t need to plan to fly for the holidays to see how this is a bad idea if it’s a long shut down.

Thank you PP for doing the lifting on this one. I'm so tired of these jokers who can't think for 5 seconds before asking (again) why they should care about the destruction of government capacity.
We used to be the foremost nation in the world for so many areas of science, from engineering to weather to food production, to say nothing of our military. It's a loss to us all and it won't be recovered.

I am a pp and I want to add- the roads you drive on particularly highways, along with busses, trains, etc., are all funded by a combination of state and federal funds which are administered by… federal employees.

DP. Why are you even commenting then? Just go away. I’m sure there’s a thread about sour cream or Julia Roberts or something that might be better suited for you.

So easy to say that when you have no one to love and no one loves you. Sad actually.

She knew him best, so Congress should take a clue. RIF by 1.
