Guesses - will government open by late Oct?

Anonymous
I am exempt and working because of an urgent project. 99% of my agency is not exempt. I’m a little burnt out and plan to take a day or two of leave if the government is open when the project is done on or before Oct 27th.

What are people’s guesses. Will I have to use leave (ie we’re open) or not?

Around veterans day. Nov. 11ish

My guess is no. Almost two weeks into this, we haven't moved the needle at all. Both sides dug in pretty deep.

My guess is maybe by Thanksgiving if airline and airport impacts are increasing.

It’s going to be December.

We won't open until after the New Year.

They will find money to pay TSA employees. Stop expecting this shutdown to mirror prior ones.

Yep. They will pillage NextGen funding probably to pay ATC. They probably want to get a lot of folks to resign and not pay severance.

The democrats really want things done before Nov 1, and republicans may finally be climbing aboard. Nov 1 is when enrollment begins for ACA.

My prediction is early November. They'll want this wrapped up before the Thanksgiving travel rush. Maybe by Election Day.

Betting market has the over-under at 11/7 right now.

I'm an optimist and think a late October resolution is still possible, due to ATC and TSA having to call out instead of continue to work unpaid. Everybody's going to miss a full paycheck next week.

I wish someone would put a bill forward to reopen the government for 1 minute every two weeks so military and civilians get their paychecks while they have their pissing match.

Yes, because it takes one minute for everyone to submit/approve time cards and issue pay.

It's going to last longer than 34 days, because that's how long the shutdown lasted during Trump's first term. He has enough bandwidth to hold out that long. Let's see if he can hold out longer.
