Is every single ICE agent irredeemable? Of course not. There are a lot of books about whether Nazi soldiers were "merely" following orders or whether they were "Hitler's willing executioners." Anyone with real integrity would quit the job before being part of this. To paraphrase Pope Leo, if you are "in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States," you are not pro-life nor, in my opinion, a good person.

For decades, the democrats have offered to get legislation (that requires bipartisanship) through to reform the immigration system, to get more judges, more scanners, more enforcement etc that would address the issues you raise such as long wait times to hear asylum cases. And every.single.time. we are close, the GOP tanks it, most recently when Trump told the GOP in the senate not to pass a bill that was written by a GOP senator that Biden said he would sign. Harris also said she would sign it and Trump has never said he would sign it, instead getting billions to expand ICE into a new SS for the modern USA.

Getting a National ID is woefully expensive, but if you make it free and easy to obtain for every US citizen, then go for it.

In Trump's first term, resistance judges were able to block many immigration measures. That is happening less in his second term, because he has Supreme Court rulings from his first term already decided.

So now, the resistance is actively resisting ICE in the streets, and putting them in danger.
