ICE is merely enforcing laws passed by Congress and signed by our elected presidents

Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

They are detaining and beating people and then releasing them from the holding facility. The citizens don’t get charged with anything so they technically don’t get arrested, just put through several hours of hell.

I hadn't heard about this until today. It's from Jan 8

The phrase on the podium is "One of ours, all of yours", and is being attributed to Nazi Germany. Nobody has found any specific use of that particular phrase (either in Spanish, from the Spanish civil war, or German, or any of the languages of Nazified lands) but everyone knows the pattern of reprisals carried out by the Nazis, which were well documented by the Nazis themselves. And in any event, the ours/yours framing is inherently totalitarian.

ICE illegally arrests American citizen in 10th-grade using an illegal choke hold. They then stole his phone and sold it.

There have been about 200 American citizens detained by ICE this year.
There have been approximately 600,000 illegal immigrants picked up by ICE this year.

"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"

So it is ICE's job to go door to door like this? I thought they were supposed to be enforcing warrants?

100% of the American citizens and 75% of the immigrants have NO criminal records at all.

I thought they were supposed to be going for the rapists and thugs?

Is ICE ignorant AND insane?

The Hmong have been in the US for almost 50 years! The first Hmong refugees, allies of the U.S. during the "Secret War" in Laos, arrived in America after the communist takeover in Southeast Asia. Large numbers of Hmong were resettled under the Indochina Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1975 and the Refugee Act of 1980, escaping persecution in Laos. The vast majority who were not born here are US CITIZENS!

WTF?!

Source for this 200 number? And don’t cite the pro publica article because that only involved incidents that were reported in the media

That would necessarily imply that OVER 200 citizens have been detained.

Yes that’s the point. PP was trying to minimize the number by putting it up against the 600,000.

Agreed, but even 1 citizen getting detained is too many. We should not have to live like this.

Yes, but when anyone who isn't lilly white is at risk (unless they are a woman, in which case they are at risk too) then what do you expect.

These surges are a dumb idea anyway. Everyone undocumented calls out of work and takes their kids out of school until they leave. The people still outside are probably legal.
