FCPS investigating alleged instances of staff arranging abortions for students

But the way the information is coming out is designed to influence the election, the two guys on Twitter who are making the reports are trickling out what they know while encouraging speculation. Instead of teasing that there is more to come they need to release what they have and let an honest investigation begin. Meanwhile Reid and FCPS appear to have gone into full cover up mode, which only plays into the hands of the bad actors.

It’s not the journalists’ (X guys) job to enforce the law. Their job is to uncover, report - and if needed be- denounce irregularities (cover-ups, etc.) after the investigation has concluded. In this case FCPS, the alleged lawbreaker, is investigating itself for this crime. Rest assured we’ll hear more about these journalists/X guys as needed.

This is no longer about Dems vs. GOP. It’s more about right from wrong.

My point was that the "reporters" appear to be timing the information release to try to harm FCPS and by extension Democrat candidates. The truth needs to be exposed, the guilty prosecuted, but I hate how this is playing out on both sides.

I highly doubt that any abortion clinic is going to risk their continued existence by providing abortions to minors without proven parental consent. They’re plenty busy with legal procedures.

Lots of questions here.

This. I think folks need to slow their roll for a hot second because the story as reported does not make sense.

If they got a judicial bypass, it's still probably not the role of the teacher to do the driving/paying, but it makes the whole thing make more sense.

If the girl was actually 18, it's again an edge case in terms of teacher involvement, but not illegal.

Basically, it seems that one teacher got overly emotionally involved with students and saw it as her role to help them get a medical procedure that they wanted, and that they might have found it difficult to access otherwise. That's certainly suggests a lack of appropriate boundaries, but it's honestly pretty relatable.

The allegation is that it was a social worker who is listed as school staff. She would know that it is a CPS issue. Period.

Only the looniest would think this is ok or defensible.

Has anyone here said that this is OK or defensible?

Are you joking? Have you even read this thread, starting on page 1??

Any time an abortion happens, it is a good thing. How is a 17 year old having a child good in any way?

Wow. A new low for DCUM

You did not answer the question. How is a 17 year old having a child good in any way?

Who made you legal guardian of the kid?

The law is the issue here. This is not a pro-life/choice issue.

Which law supersedes parents as a legal guardian?

I think there is an "out" in the law for bypassing parents. But, I would hope it would not be used unless there were real concerns of abuse. Nevertheless, the school should not do either. It should have referred it to CPS.

Different poster here

Well, if FCPS doesn’t like the timing of this information being released, they could always just be completely transparent and release all the information themselves.

Welp, here we go again. The whistle blower sent the Centreville principal an email about the abortion years ago and called him out when he later denied any knowledge. The whistle blower recorded her conversation with FCPS investigators back in May, but they claimed they only became aware of the issue this week. If FCPS is going to lie, don't do it when they had to have known that the "reporter" had the evidence.

Just listened to the recording. The woman sounds trustworthy and sincere. At best, there is confusion about the circumstances and the principal should have spent more time talking with the teacher who is the whistleblower. At worst, heads need to roll.
The guardian was an uncle.

“Children raised by Government” is literally part of Agenda 2030.

Check that out yourselves.

Abortions are serious procedures that can endangered the mother’s life either during the procedure or afterwards. The parents needed to be involved before the decision and after the procedure in case there could have been any complications, or/and to take care of their daughter while she recovered. Medically speaking, there is a reason why we need to take it easy after something as small as a tooth removal, let alone an abortion on a young girl!

More importantly, NO ONE can substitute a parent; the comfort only a mother (or father) can give when a child is hurting - even when the pain is a result of something they did wrong. It’s about time FCPS disassociates themselves from the ill conceived notion that they are coparents of our children. This isn’t communist China!

Honestly given there's over 100,000 Fairfax country students a couple allegations from 4 years ago seems extremely low? There have been multiple teachers fired at every type of school in jurisdictions across the country for a variety of offenses every year you can't predict or control the behavior of everyone you hire. Nothing about a couple allegations either surprises me or suggests there's a substantial failing or pattern within the school systems.

This doesn't remotely register as a major scandal to me. This is "deal with the individuals send out an email reminding people of policy" level.
