FCPS investigating alleged instances of staff arranging abortions for students

Anonymous
Teenagers are allowed to consent to their own medical treatment. If a teacher was there to be supportive, great. That has nothing to do with FCPS. No one was coerced. These obviously weren't rich kids that would call an uber. These are the kids that need help accessing care.

Good for them.

If true.....this is not okay. The school has no right to insert themselves in such matters.

Youngkin and GOP loons are all over DCUrbanMoms looking for any story that will
stick or a narrative they can sell to fear monger. Beware. They do this every election cycle. People fell for the nonsense lies and made up scandals before, don't do it again. Virginia deserves better than these loons
who see fear and hate and spread negativity.

The article doesn’t say that FCPS paid for the abortions. I bet staff helped pay with their own money. I know a teacher in another state who gave a student money when the student wanted an abortion but had no money.

I read/watched the WJLA reporting and the underlying reporting. Setting aside the politics and the applicable law, this reporting included:

- Two ESOL students who submitted written testimony.

- A current ESOL teacher who gave her name on the record.

On this thread I see:

- One group apparently, apparently in support of political party A, dragging the story by accusing political party B of making things up for political gain during an election season.

Ironically, political party A touts itself as the defenders of all teachers and all students, especially ESOL teachers and ESOL students. I don’t see that happening here.

Maybe take a pause from the politics and be kind to the real humans involved who put their names in the record?

Consider those real people before you smear a teacher and two students who bravely spoke out for your own political goals.

You are coming off as more concerned about FCPS as some monolithic, political institution than the students and teachers that ARE FCPS.

There needs to be more done than the school system investigating itself. This is wild.

Why should the school counselor tell the parents? It’s none of the parents’ business.

Yes, this the parents business, especially if the student is under 18. This should be a criminal investigation.

What I meant to write:
*Consider those real people before you smear, FOR YOUR OWN POLITICAL GOALS, a teacher and two students who bravely spoke out ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES.

You are full of sht. No one is “smearing” the teachers and students.

We are calling out the political a-holes pushing this story on DCUM.

1. Adults should not go around the parents to do this. Yes sucks for those kids but they are minors. This is the parents’ business. - and I’m Pro choice.

2. This is not some big “FCPS problem”. This is something that one staff member did at one school.

Look at 4:47:

“nonsense lies and made up scandals before, don't do it again”

Calling it nonsense lies and made up is a smear.

I've worked in the criminal court system and just in a couple years I ran into multiple cases when a teenager was raped and pregnant from the abuse of an adult male family member (Dad, step-dad, uncle). And the sad reality is that their families often blamed the victims for their rape. They ended up kicked out of their homes.

So of you've spent any time with kids in these desperate situations you know parents are often absolute shit and your primary goal should be to protect the kids.

I've read this a few times, are you suggesting that one, the story is fake, and two, if the story is not discussed on DCUM the GOP won't discover it and it will go away?
