Abortion for minors is illegal in VA without parent involvement, unless the minor gets judicial bypass. So was there judicial bypass for the 17-year-old? I highly doubt that any abortion clinic is going to risk their continued existence by providing abortions to minors without proven parental consent. They’re plenty busy with legal procedures. Lots of questions here.
This. I think folks need to slow their roll for a hot second because the story as reported does not make sense. If they got a judicial bypass, it's still probably not the role of the teacher to do the driving/paying, but it makes the whole thing make more sense. If the girl was actually 18, it's again an edge case in terms of teacher involvement, but not illegal. Basically, it seems that one teacher got overly emotionally involved with students and saw it as her role to help them get a medical procedure that they wanted, and that they might have found it difficult to access otherwise. That's certainly suggests a lack of appropriate boundaries, but it's honestly pretty relatable.
The allegation is that it was a social worker who is listed as school staff. She would know that it is a CPS issue. Period.
