So what if a girl is pregnant and goes to her counselor for help, the counselor should just say "go talk to your momma" even though the girl knows that momma will just beat her and force her to have a baby she doesn't want? THANK YOU to the staff who helped these girls.

+1. Some people are just trying to sh** on teachers who are trying to help messed up kids. For all you know it could have been a case of incest and the parent of the pregnant teenager is on meth and the teen just asked about options.

There is a policy. It requires the school to notify the Health Department of the County. The school personnel are to encourage the girl to speak with her parents. If she is unwilling to do that, the school is to notify the Health Department and the Health Department determines the next steps--which is likely an abortion. At no time should school personnel advise the girl on her future actions.

And, yes, if it is a case of incest or rape, Child Protective Services should step in. If this were the case and the school did not follow procedures, then the perpetrator does not get punished. That is why it is turned over to the proper authorities to handle it---WHICH IS NOT THE SCHOOL.

Sooo...

In that case, the teacher is a mandatory reporter and required by state and federal law to immediately report the crime of rape by incest to her police department.

A teacher,s failure to report something like your mythical situation would be a fireable offense and a crime. So if what you are imagining is what happened, it is just as big of a scandal as the abortion story.

I'm a substitute and just had to complete my yearly trainings. One of the longest is about suspecting child abuse/mandatory reporting, etc. and the steps the teacher has to take are very clear and very detailed. You are absolutely correct that neglecting to report (immediately!) is a fireable offense.

You think in a red state a girl reports incest and she’s going to not be made to carry to term?

In other words: another right wing MAGA troll hit job.

Like PP said, weirdly into it...

You can tell an election is coming and Sears is desperate. They keep trying to sensationalize stories like this.

Pro tip: If it’s on WJLA and the reporter is Nick Minock, you can safely assume the reporting is bunk and this is trying to manufacture outrage with deceptive journalism. They were successful in 2021 but it’s not going to work this year because Northern Virginia feels hoodwinked by Youngkin, is reeling from Trump’s attacks and Feds and everyone remembers that photograph of a wide-eyed Winsome Sears holding an AR-15 that no amount of pastel outfits, hair straightener and soft lighting will overcome.

The topic of this thread is the actions/inactions of personnel at Centreville. Did they follow the policy or not?

The topic is not the value of abortion.
The rules are very simple:
1. Encourage the girl to talk to her family.
2. If she does not want to include her family, then refer her to the Department of Health. At that point, CPS might be involved.

The school's job is not to transport girls to abortion clinics. That is not in their lane. If the girl does not want to include her family, there could be other issues involved: incest or trafficking. This is a CPS job--not FCPS.
Period.

You sure? I’m not optimistic. She’s doing slightly better in the polls than Youngkin was at this point in 2021. Mcaullife had an 8 point lead over Youngkin currently Spanberger has a 7 point lead of Earle-Sears.

There were 34 church leaders & christian school employees who were arrested, pled guilty and/ or were sentenced to prison for child sex crimes in July.

And you all are worried about this.

Your children are was less safe at your churches

Absolutely disgusting and glad they’re going to prison.

But I guess you’re right. No one can worry about more than 1 issue or admit that more than 1 thing is problematic.

Oh, and you may also want to look up public school sexual misconduct statistics.

Why can’t we be worried about both?

Beware of WJLA, owned by Sinclair. They own many TV stations across the country and had their anchors reading conservative talking points from a script.

But, it's okay to watch stations reading liberal talking points?

Here's a hint: watch both...then check the facts if you can find them.

Minock at least reports on FCPS. The rest just share Reid's slick clips.

What other comparisons of local TV stations would you like to make? Sinclair has an agenda and is a Trump ally.
