Genuinely asking both parties: where do you want friends/family relationships to go from here?

I’m not going to go out of my way to be nasty (when they go low we go high). I will not call them names. I will not spew hatred. To the extent I have to exist with them I will be polite. But that’s it. I consider myself gracious to even extent basic human civility to people who can vote for a rapist who refers to other human beings as vermin. And I’m not going to try to talk any logical sense into them because you can debate or compromise with someone who believes in lies and conspiracies.

But I will not give anything more than lukewarm civility to them. I just can’t ever look at them and not see the hatred in their hearts (or at the least the ability to tolerate hatred). I will not feel bad for them when they get what they voted for.

I will continue to support dem causes. And be thankful I live in a liberal area where I’m not surrounded by uneducated fools who do not understand how the government runs and who voted for a candidate who brags about getting stupid people to vote for him. I will enjoy my retirement accounts growing and know that my life will be much better than theirs over the next 4 years. Oh well.

Such privilege.

Just ignore the gays being beaten at Salisbury University.

That’s awful. But do you blame the fact that Jews and Asians have been beaten up on campuses in the past four years on the Biden administration? Do you blame the daily rape and beating of women on Joe Biden?

There’s actual link between the policies that T supports and abuse of LGBT. There is no link for your example. There is a link to T calling it the Ch)))&&$ virus and Asian assaults.

Your a complete idiot and that is why I’m not associating with people like you nit because of your political views.

Cult leaders WANT their followers to be isolated from family, friends and neighbors. They work, over time, to cause division and irreparable rifts, so that their followers have literally nowhere else to go, and no one to turn to.

You are playing the part he wants you to play. You are becoming the people he wants you to become: people who will never associate with family, friends, neighbors and coworkers who voted for him.

He’s using cult tactics. And you fell for it. You’re playing your part. You are the puppets and the sheep he wants you to be. He has you exactly where he wants you: playing the role of stonewall family and friends who are cutting off his voters so that they only have him to turn to.

Well what our Trump voters doing to bridge the gap? Why does it have to be us?

They chose their cult. Let them enjoy their koolaid.

People are mourning politics more than they mourn a death in the family. Ridiculous.

+1, some of these responses are just wild. I do not comprehend allowing yourself to be so completely taken in by our political environment that you are mourning and devastated. I know DCUM is a bit of a liberal echo chamber, but the hyperbolic responses are over the top.

Yup.
It’s a question of morals, not political differences.

OK, so…then what? You want the majority of the country to be “immoral and unreachable,” and you want your party to keep losing again and again, because without any connection or healing of division or understanding, this is going to be it going forward? What do you want? Where do you want to go from here?

Weird how Trump got the same amount of votes in 2020 and 2024.

We are done with Trumpers. It's not politics with them anymore, it's a form of terrorism. It's 1930s Germany.

You can see now how people tread around in that vague area of " who are they?" when in social arenas, whatever they may be. Huge divide ahead, and that is ok.

It's not politics. Stop saying this. It's core values.

1930s Germany?? Read a history book.

It's pretty clear people are so entrenched they cannot see the forest for the trees. Hysteria cycle

It is politics. No one candidate is going to equally support the many issues in the exact same way as every.single. person in the U.S.
We all prioritize things differently.

OK, it’s core values. And we all live together. Finish the thought: now what? What’s next? What does the future look like?

I thought both choices were awful. As long as people are not obnoxious I am not judging anyone for how they voted.I do judge people casting off good friendships based on how someone voted.

So you see two Americas. You see permanent division? Is that what you want, and what you will work for?

And torched family/friend/neighbor ties. Harder to create new ones with age. The maxim to refrain from discussing politics or religion at work or at family events was a good one. It predated social media and identity politics intensifying during COVID isolation.

Go Fart, you are full of it.
This is not about politics it’s about MORALS.
I will never, ever normalize racism , mocking disabled people and the 50-11 million other immoral things this man has done and stands for.
Do you, I’m done.
