Yes, but as a liberal we’ve gone overboard with the soft bigotry of low expectations. Permitting crime in cities or letting “youths up to age 25” in DC basically car jack someone and have their criminal recorded shielded and they don’t get prosecuted. Slap on the wrist penalties. Letting people with unlimited amounts of speeding tickets not lose their license because it’s “unfair”. That sort of progressive, yes “woke” criminal justice is extremely unsafe and unhelpful.

Or in our schools, the woke idea that gifted and talented classes aren’t fair and we should lump remedial learners with advanced learners, thus forcing teachers to teach to the common denominator. This sort of woke thinking makes the entire nation dumber. I know it feels good and whatever, but do you want an engineer who was just scooted by and pushed up to the next grade and is less qualified because we have water down academic vigor? Because we eliminated neutral testing for entry to rigorous schools? No dude. That’s how you get Boeing 737 type planes everywhere.

I’m a pro-choice liberal who voted for Harris and who lives in SE DC the way. I live in a nice row house and I drive a cargo bike and do all the normal urban city sht every other parent here does, but I’m sick of the idiocy and woke policies with crime and school. It’s fking up our world standing, competitiveness and domestic safety.

As a democratic voter, I am completely aligned with your thinking. Wish our party was more reasonable and practical. Only reason I am not a republican these days is because all they have to offer is the criminal Trump.

I respect the introspection, but you admittedly voted to allow the 100s or 1000s of criminals and disadvantaged children you just mentioned to continue the status quo just because you dislike the man’s personal affairs. I think that needs some thought as well.

Simply wishing your party was one way or another does not fix anything. You need to let them know with your vote like millions of other Americans did.

Hopefully after this fumble more reasonable Democratic Party leaders are voted in and things go in a better direction.

Sexual assault and lying are not "personal affairs". But I get it. You're fine with it. Lots of people are not fine with it, just not as many as the people that are fine with it. Really stinks but this is where the country is.

Donald Trump's decisive victory last night marked one of the greatest moments in American history. It was a moment that will be remembered, written about, discussed, and studied centuries from now. It was truly a miraculous moment. To call it miraculous is not to in any way dismiss all of the very real work that was done by so many. It is to underscore that God’s hand can be felt and seen through all of this. It was a result that showed God’s goodness and His mercy. He is giving America another chance. That’s the kind of history that was made.
It was historic not only because Trump achieved a political comeback unlike anything in American history but also because he survived multiple assassination attempts and a relentless campaign of legal attacks aimed at keeping him off the ballot and putting him behind bars.
Donald Trump’s victory marks the day Americans took back control of their country, as he himself said last night. It showed a clear mandate: after years of lies and manipulation from the corporate press, Americans have finally had enough. The media, so-called “national security experts,” and corrupt prosecutors can no longer deceive or bully the public into submission. They can cry “racism” and “fascism” all they want—it doesn’t work anymore. They can’t pretend outrage over a comedian’s joke or push candidates with no real credibility and expect Americans to fall in line.
The media’s power to shape the narrative has collapsed. Their influence, once vast, is now impotent, with them talking only to each other, cut off from the reality that Americans live every day. Trump’s victory didn’t just break through the media’s grip on public opinion; it ended it. There’s no going back.

Lol. Only time will tell.

The media loves Trump. They made him.

It lasted 10 years and destroyed catastrophically education, economy, families, and communities. People lost trust in each other even within families and traditional values and faiths were gone. My Chinese immigrant friends and I are all scared of this and are happy conservatives prevailed liberals in this election.

Same here.

Several of my adult friends grew up in China; they see the progressive movement in the USA as a similar threat as Mao’s murderous cultural revolution.

The woke left is the opposite of “tolerant.” Plus, they are violent.

The only American period that is remotely close to Culture revolution is the Maccarthy era. However people did not get beat to death in front of their family by Mao's hooligans, they just lost their livelihood. Maccarthy was republican, and some of Trump's rhetorics were similar to his.

BTW, Jan 6 was the closet to Mao's "mass movement" - sending the mob.

Not sure if you were alive during the summer of 2020 but THAT was a mob burning city after city with complete impunity.

Did a strong man send them?

Lifelong liberal and I have to agree as well

Same here. I could add more to the list, e.g. issue re rent assistance program in DC, hiring practices in science and medicine, elections to academic honor societies etc

I have property in DC too and the crazy woke criminal policies is making me not live or invest there. How bad we could get if our communities are not even safe. why can't we shoot down these violent criminals?

Dems sabotage themselves by not knowing when to stop.

The had a steady flow of illegals, but turned it into a flood. Too much.

They had legal abortion but pushed for late-term abortions & no notification of parents & government funding. Too much.

They had Title IX women’s equality in sports, but pushed for trans participation in women’s sports. Too far.

They got legalized gay marriage, but pushed for drag shows in elementary schools. Too much.

Some Dems are gluttonous progressives that are always going a bridge too far. Finally even many Democrats said “Enough!”

This, 100%. There is reasonable and there is unreasonable, and the Dems lost sight of the distinction, with the result we just saw.

A man participating in a women Olympics is more important than our environment going down the toilet, more important than lack of affordable healthcare or the crap mass food production.

Modern Americans are obese and sickly and will have much shorter life span, but sure let’s focus on gender bathrooms.

I don't think for most of us the main objection is the trans advantage in women's sports. I'm a teacher and for several years now we've been counseled against saying boys and girls in favor of more "gender inclusive" language. When visiting colleges with my daughters, the presenters would always begin by announcing their pronouns.

This is the kind of shift that most Americans find deeply troubling and quite frankly inane. This is our society, our culture, what the left is trying to push on us as normal. It's not just conservative that are fed up with this. It's really the norm among the majority although people are reluctant to speak openly about it. I know quite a few left leaning if not liberal people who have grumbled about feeling like they now need to add their pronouns to their work emails. Even my college daughter who is definitely a democrat says she feels like she needs to add her pronouns to her socials even though she thinks it's rather silly. I truly don't think the left realizes how much this stuff has alienated the majority of Americans.

My 75 year old father went to urgent care recently and was so confused when the paperwork asked for his pronouns and his gender identity. He thought “they” was for twins.

have you heard of ANY DEMOCRAT that will mandate e-verify??

Title 42 is a good start, but here are bills that have been introduced in both chambers that would EFFECTIVELY END THE BORDER CRISIS.

☀Rep. Andy Biggs' (R-Ari.) H.R.1901 and Sen. Mike Lee's (R-Utah) S.884 introduced bills to address asylum fraud.

☀Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Cal.) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) have introduced mandatory E-Verify bills into the House (H.R.78) and Senate (S.71) respectively.

A 2016 study confirmed what many have known for years: The E-Verify system is remarkably effective at deterring illegal immigration.

https://cis.org/Huennekens/Study-Shows-EVerifys-Effectiveness

and this year ...

Romney, Colleagues Introduce Bill to Mandate E-Verify, Eliminate Key Driver of Illegal Immigration

https://www.romney.senate.gov/romney-colleagues-introduce-bill-to-mandate-e-verify-eliminate-key-driver-of-illegal-immigration/

Where are democrats? Why do they refuse to mandate E-Verify ?

That list is just a bunch of crap.

Agreed. Not that the issues are crap but the list is.

There’s no “flood of illegals but if there were why wasn’t the bipartisan bill passed?

No one sought late term abortions on a whim. There was a need for safe medical procedures when the need arises and that need sometimes presents itself later term. Hell, Ted Cruz’s wife had a similar abortion but of course they didn’t call it that and theirs was “necessary.”

I really look forward to the investment in women’s sports now since that swayed an entire election. Never mind no one gave two craps about women’s sports- so much so we needed legislation to force schools to “allow” women to play sports and it’s nowhere near equal but nice try- until now. But now women’s sports are of such dire national concern? Ok, great, can’t wait to see that investment at work.

Drag shows and gay marriage have nothing whatsoever to do with one another.
