Is Hillsdale the new Harvard?

How on Earth would you know that?

NP. With an acceptance rate of 21%, I would hardly call Hillsdale "desperate". They are extremely selective.

I just posted on another thread. What’s with the Hillsdale booster(s) on this board?

Employers do not see Hillsdale in NEARLY the same light as Harvard, or any top college.

How is diversity at Hillsdale?

It is becoming increasingly more respected as woke colleges have obvious problems with ideological capture based in progressive ideology and pedagogy, and Hillsdale offers a more classical curriculum and a more traditional approach to teaching. The problem with most elite institutions is that in most cases they are just as woke as Harvard. It isn’t that they aren’t good schools. It is that they are saying they are more devoted to social justice than to educating students how to think. Hillsdale doesn’t have this problem. It is the highest ranked non-woke school. Its stated purpose is not social justice. It is to equip students to be capable and moral citizens who can think for themselves.

Do you have a cite for “highest ranked non-woke” school?

Hillsdale has a total enrollment of under 1600 students. University of Michigan has about 50,000. So while it’s cute to compare the percentage rates, that means that you’re comparing class sizes that are vastly different. Also, there’s nothing about an acceptance rate that speaks to the quality of the students who apply or to the quality of the students who are accepted. So: 400 oranges per class compared to 12,000 apples — with no data about the actual quality of the fruit.

If you’re going to assert that “it is the highest ranked non-woke school” — it sure would be helpful to have lists of “woke” and “non-woke schools”. Without that or some other generally recognized standard, that ranking is only meaningful to the group of students who ONLY wish to attend “non-woke” schools — whatever that means. As to the rest, that’s a worthy goal. I hope they actually achieve it.

Only because nobody has heard of Hillsdale. A little flamewar here on DCUM can only help, right?

It is a great and unique college full of really smart kids. I have no affiliation to it.

How is the diversity of your neighborhood. How is the diversity of your kids’ friends. And your dinner table guests. You phony.

Sure, a college that fundraises on twitter with dumb quizzes is going to be the equivalent Harvard any day now.

#39 among LACs and rapidly climbing nerd wad. And their president isn't a plagiarist who hates Jews.

A school that welcome wildly ignorant fabulist Dinesh D’Souza as a “historian” will never compete with any real institution of higher learning for actual academic prestige.

But the author of this thread knows that Hillsdale is a bastion of culture was propaganda, and has posted this thread in furtherance of that propaganda.

Americans reject the anti-LGBT, anti-minority work of Hillsdale despite the efforts of the Christian nationalist, white supremacist brigade that is pushing Hillsdale as a real school.

Evidence that it’s OK to slur Christians as “Bible thumpers”.

Do better.

How about "God-botherers"?

I'm Christian. I don't feel slurred by "Bible thumpers," because I know what "Bible thumpers" are.

I went to a college that taught me about nuanced word choice.
