“The gunman who opened fire on an outlet mall in a Dallas suburb Saturday, killing at least eight people, was a man in his early 30s who may have had white supremacist or neo-Nazi beliefs, people familiar with the investigation said Sunday.

They said a patch the gunman was wearing on his chest at the time of the shooting suggested the potential white supremacist leanings. Authorities have not released a motive.”

A Hispanic white supremacist? Sounds incredulous.

I would say that these reporters need to get better sources. Seems these "people familiar with the investigation" are pushing a narrative.
Mauricio Martinez Garcia a white supremacist?

A guy just turned in his Latina ex-girlfriend in to the FBI because she was in the Capitol on January 6. He broke up with her because she was reading Mein Kampf.

Shooter was Mauricio Garcia who may have been a white supremacist. He was also a security guard, although it hasn’t been confirmed where.

That’s an interesting nuance: a Hispanic white nationalist with parents who don’t speak English and required a translator.

Have they released demographics on the victims yet?

Black? Asian?

Yep. And, they lived in a hotel.
It's my thinking that if he was wearing a patch associated with white supremacy, it is more likely that he got the shirt and the patch from a local Goodwill shop or a shop that sells second-hand goods than he was actually a white supremacist.
This is just sloppy reporting. Or, a ridiculous narrative being pushed by the FBI. They like to do that.

You haven’t been paying attention. Nick Fuentes and Enrique Tarrio ring any bells?

Experts tell Axios far-right extremism within the Latino community stems from three sources: Hispanic Americans who identify as white; the spread of online misinformation; and lingering anti-Black, antisemitic views among U.S. Latinos that are rarely openly discussed.

“It should come as no surprise that there are several Latino male white nationalists who have gotten disproportionate attention in recent years, but in a country that keeps misunderstanding why the U.S. Latino community is nowhere near close to being a monolith, it is critical to examine how this notion of Latino white nationalists still feels strange to some.”

Riiiiiight. The guy was wearing military tactical gear. I'm sure he also just threw on whatever goodwill shirt was laying of the floor of his room that day.

True.

The Latino community skews religious and conservative, particularly when it comes to newcomers, 1st generation Americans, and especially those living in a conservative area like TX.

Plus: this area in particular, Allen, is a fast-growing, affluent area that has experienced an influx of transplants from CA, the West Coast, Chicago, the East Coast, etc., including a growing population of Asians and Indians. Area businesses owned by Asians are growing.

No clue what the murderer’s motivation was. But it will be interesting to see if his motive stemmed from anti-Asian or anti-Black or anti-Jewish hate.

The area just recently suffered a Latino on Latino neighborhood massacre.

“Suspected Allen, Texas mall shooter Mauricio Garcia interacted with neo-Nazi and white supremacist content online, according to two senior law enforcement officials.

According to one of the officials, 33-year-old Garcia posted such content himself. The other official said the suspect consumed such rhetoric online, had several social media accounts, and said that authorities found him with a patch with a right-wing acronym on his chest.”

According to the MAGA GOP congressman, biggest challenges facing the district are “growth challenges such as transportation, proliferation of drag queen shows that target children and drugs flowing into our area across the border.”

Drag queens was #2!!!! Jezus.

1. Practically nonexistent firearm laws
2. Huge population in 4-5 (arguably) major metro areas

This is going to result in some absolutely horrible mass shootings. It’s just the law of averages, given the huge size of the population.

Caveat emptor.

Yes, but not only in TX. Laws of averages. The amount of AR-15 and similar rifles already sold up to this point is astonishing; dozens of millions, and this style rifle is currently the ongoing best seller for all manufacturers who make one (most do now). Combined with many states dropping all permit and other gun related laws…. I think we are doomed to more and more shootings… and it’s horrifying.

So he’s a Hispanic white supremacist who targeted whites ?

You are trying to make sense of a totally illogical and irrational act??

I am a teacher and I knew someone through school who was affiliated with an extremist group like this (he's dead now FWIW). Anyway, it was all about the attention seeking antics of a very reckless personality. A loner with zero friends and zero ability to be socially appropriate. He went online and down paths where he was "accepted" and "used". Let's just put it that way. He also had used guns and should not have had possession of them, but he did. Very unhappy life.

Rs are fine with gun violence and everyone knows it.

Yep! Agree. Why should trauma doctors bear this burden? Americans want unrestricted access to guns; they need to see the ramifications of their want.

If the families allow I would also say; show these pictures, show the kids’ bodies that are so torn that they are identified by shreds of clothing. Civilians, unless in healthcare, never see this. Only those in war zones and medical personnel. I’ve seen this in person and it never lets you go. Show the photos in Congress on big screens, repeatedly. Every one where the family allows it. I don’t know if it would change lawmakers stance, but it’s a lot of trauma to bear for any healthy human.
