Honestly? She’s too thin. Surprise pregnancies at that age don’t happen to super skinny women. They just don’t.

I’m the PP who mentioned a friend who got pregnant with twins at age 45. She was also very thin — a runner — and she believed her period had stopped because of her low weight. Her doctor didn’t even do a pregnancy test because he didn’t believe she could pregnant.

I'm with PP. Her filmography does not match that of a two-time winner of the Best Actress Oscar. She's the only one in this generation to have won that award twice and it puts her in some very esteemed company (Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Vivian Leigh, Jane Fonda, Sally Field, even Meryl Streep (although she got a 3rd Oscar in the Best Supporting category as well)). Hilary Swank won her second Oscar in 2004. Where has she been since then? It looks like she started producing her own films, most of which sound terrible and hover around 20%-40% on Rotten Tomatoes. Her Netflix show was canceled after one season. What gives?

Well, she’s not very good looking. I mean, she’s fine for a mom at school pickup but she’s not Hollywood pretty. So that cuts her out of like 90% of casting for female roles. Geez, even that psycho killer role went to gorgeous Charlize Theron who had o make herself ugly for it. She may actually do better in middle age or older because there are more “character” actor jobs for older women. I have a relative that was really unattractive who had good success as a old lady actress because that cast her as that crazy old lady character. I think she was just happy to work and had fun with it. There’s lots of roles like that men that are sort of odd looking but really not much for women.

I believe I recall reading somewhere that she slowed down her career in order to care for her father. I think that spanned many years and might have read it around the time of her Netflix space series, which I really enjoyed. I was sad that it didn’t get renewed.

I hope she has a great pregnancy, healthy kids, and finds whatever career balance works for her as a mom.

I watched her interview on Good Morning America, and she never said it was a miracle or that twins run in her family.

I have had 3 pregnancies (two healthy kids and one termination), all over the age of 39. All conceived pretty quickly and naturally. So yes, some women are fertile well into their 40s and no, I am not a unicorn. I know lots of oops babies born to friends over 40, incl. one friend who just delivered her unplanned healthy 3rd child at age 46.

Her own frozen eggs is possible but given that she's been married for four years already - seems unlikely that this pregnancy is a result of her own frozen eggs. I already said she doesn’t owe it to anyone to explain how. But what is annoying is her suggestion that this is any kind of natural miracle or a result of twins running in her family. That is implausible at best and an outright lie at worst.

She said it on Live with Ryan and Kelly - that twins run in both her and her husband’s family. 🙄

So twins run in her husband's family? All the people talking about how common twins are in older moms are talking about how more eggs get released in ovulation leading to twins. Which has zero to do with twins running in a husbands family. Hilary must not have a very good understanding how all this works. Miracle, indeed. She should give a mention to her fertility clinic for helping her in her miraculous journey to share the credit.

LOL seriously. Also - the OP’s examples in this case are clearly very different than Hilary Swank getting pregnant with twins at 48 as a FTM. Not even in the same ballpark as far as odds (i.e. it’s well documented that some women with earlier pregnancies are able to have subsequent babies into their early and possibly mid-40s.

I'm not reading anything that says she is saying it is natural. Using the word "miracle" doesn't imply that. They probably have been trying a long time with a combo of her eggs, donor eggs, maybe they've explored adoption, who knows and the fact that they are now on the road to two babies is a miracle, even if was achieved using other eggs.
