| DCUM is obsessively trust the science for all things… but any and all geriatric pregnancy dialogue brings out coping quacks who insist everyone can get pregnant naturally at 40 because their great great nana allegedly had twins at age 43. |

Yes, it's all fun and games until there are not a one but two screaming babies. She gonna be tired. Hilary I love you girl but you better get lots of sleep now because that shit is gonna be rough.
Just get lots of nannies and sleep peacefully down the hall.... |
| She looks so old!!! |
That's not true, she really doesn't. |
I saw trailers for Alaska Daily and yes, she looks old. Late 40s. |
Seriously! Alec Baldwin just had Baby #7 |
+1 even IVF is a miracle at that age After a long journey, a baby does feel like a miracle regardless (this was how I felt after needing IVF at 32 - not a medical miracle by RE standards, but felt like it to me!) |
Thanks for your anecdote! Re hysteria, look at some actual stats, even for IVF success rates. |
The stats are based on women who try to get pregnant over 40, cannot, and then go to RE doctors. Most women are not actively trying to get pregnant after 40, and the ones with accidental pregnancies won’t tell you about their abortion. And then there are the oops babies, of which I know at least half a dozen in my circle of friends. All born to moms over 40 who thought their fertility would be done by 40/42/44. IVF is often an inferior process compared to a natural conception, barring any major reproductive issues. It is inferior at any age, but especially so after 40. Just look at the numerous posts by women who took years to conceive with IVF only to then accidentally and “miraculously” fall pregnant naturally. |
| Guessing she had the money to freeze her eggs when she was younger. She was married for nine years between 1997-2007 (the eggs from when she was 23-33 would have likely been pretty viable). |
| I had my last child at 42. I am 48 now and she’s 6. She was conceived naturally and it was a surprise! I’m the old mom at school and wow, I’m exhausted and have a lot less energy than I did for my older two children. But I don’t have the help that Hilary will no doubt have and that’s huge. I’m happy for her and wish her the best of luck. |
Same! And it was my only. I have no opinion on how she conceived. Happy for her. |
This. |
Wow. There is alot of BS in this post. This is someone who is so sure they know what they are talking about, but actually are talking out of their a$$. Where is your medical degree from? Where did you do your residency and fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and/or where has your research been published. |
+1000 The posts about IVF being an inferior process borders on misinformation. Female fertility declines exponentially starting at age 35 and while there is still a chance of getting pregnant naturally each month between ages 43-44, the percentage drops even further at age 45 and by ages 48-49, the chances of getting pregnant naturally each month are lower than 1 percent. Donor eggs or younger eggs will increase the likelihood quite significantly. |
