No idea. MCPS is a dark box with no transparency now a days. do you know if Virtual Academy will have classes next school year? Some on DCUM say that MCPS may shutdown the VA.

Yes, VA is happening next year. The course guide and other information are on the website. Why are you listening to someone who is saying it will shut down on DCUM when its not true if you follow what is going on, especially the BOE meetings. Its just a bitter, nasty person who likes to cause drama.

No schools have scheduled orientation or provided any school year information.

The website is not obsolete. No schools update their websites over the summer and there is really no information to give. Usually the only thing schools update is school supply information and you really don't need much with VA. I cannot imagine the orientation, videos or newsletter will look that different from last year.

Resubmit your application and call them. I know they answer the phone as I've called. They don't always answer email but that's pretty common at any school. Last year they sent us an email with the acceptance.

Last year it varied but many of us were not accepted till a week or two before school started, some after. I got concerned and resubmitted our application. I would resubmit to make sure they get it and call and email a few times. A note from a doctor stating a medical need might also help.

These are paid PR posting discouraging and diverting important information. I guess they get paid per post. So they will keep posting "call them" "email them" information is on website etc. This is just distraction. Keep asking and someone will answer if they receive any info. We understand that MCPS quality of communication and service levels have gone down the drains since past two years. So it is important to stay engaged as a parent and help each other. PR has become nasty now a days.

It was probably already said, but orientation for MS and HS is always the Thursday before school starts. It is for students new to the building (6th, 9th, and new enrollments), runs 1/2 day, and they run the buses. Virtual Academy is obviously new and defining its processes, but I would expect the timing to be similar at least.

You do realize VA is all virtual and so things are a bit different so they aren't going to run busses or open the building as there are no buses or building. They probably aren't going to do that kind of orientation and at best do a meet the teacher but doubtful.

Are you having mental health issues? These are not paid PR postings and if you want information and you don't like what's being said here, the appropriate thing to do is to call or email them.
