When is the Virtual Academy MS / HS Orientation

Anonymous
The significant drop in Forest Knolls' enrollment is because of a boundary study that was to relieve its overcrowding. The rezoned students began attending the adjacent Montgomery Knolls and Pine Crest elementary schools in 2020 and 2021, depending on their grade levels. That is what is reflected in the numbers you posted, PP.

The virtual kids are still enrolled in their home schools for numbers so the post makes no sense.

Some think that they will shutdown VA.

"Some" think all sorts of things. Heck, some even lend credence to all sorts of things.

MCPS has said they're committed to it for the long haul, though. They may revisit if the state ever gets into it. The state may well offer some money to allow other counties' residents to use MCPS's version rather than trying to launch another one.

Some say that VA is an utter failure at MCPS. I wonder why would state inherit a failed system. Aren't they better off starting a new system at Frederick County or Howard County where the schools are rated at much higher level than MCPS?

LOL. Only in DCUM worldview.

only for those who do not know how to google.

Yeah google tells me that 6 of the top 10 rated schools in Maryland are in MCPS, just one in Howard and none in Frederick.

Wrong. you are looking at 10 year old ratings

You are obviously a troll and a clueless one at that too, but to add more to your pains, here.

Remote school. Remote work. Do you all live in palaces?

Because it is important to mingle with the outside world

Ok, so if you don’t want kids in virtual school, what are you going to do to make it safe and comfortable for them to return?

US news is not a legitimate source. That is run by MCPS PR firm. All those schools are performing poorly in Greatschools.org ratings

Does anyone know when is the VA orientation for parents? It is not helpful when MCPS PR distract and divert the conversation to not provide information to parents who seek information on this forum only because it isn't coming from MCPS. All kinds of junk information comes out from PR but nothing worth your time.

Did you take your meds this morning? Do you also see dead people?

Somerset also had a boundary revision. The other PP is pulling numbers out of context and ascribing unfounded motivations.

Yes, though Somerset's student reassignments will be taking effect in Fall 2022 and 2023.

You are right and in terms of numbers the kids are assigned to their home schools vs. VA so those numbers mean nothing.
