No emails no notifications or announcements. How did you get your info? Is it applicable for all VA applicants? or only ones who are accepted? then who know who is accepted?

PP looked on the VA academy website and the information was there about applications. The orientation hasn't been announced to families so maybe its as announced to teachers and staff. Once accepted, I'd assume you'll get on the email list. Remember there were 3000 students in VA last year. It may be new to you but we are a year into it. You clearly haven't looked at the website. Between old videos (not much will change), newsletters, updates there is a lot of information.

I honestly can’t tell if you’re just deliberately trying to create drama, or are genuinely this obtuse.

From the VA page on the MCPS site (click on the “Registration Open” headline a few items down):

“Students who have never attended the Virtual Academy, OR who did not finish the year at the Virtual Academy in June 2022 must submit an application through ParentVUE as early as possible. The Virtual Academy will send acceptance notifications to new enrollees in August 2022.”

So if you’re new to the VA, you will get your acceptance letter in August. When you get your acceptance, they’ll tell you the date for the orientation. It may not be what you wanted to hear, but there’s definitely information on the website.

Yes, it has been announced to staff. Upper school STUDENT orientation is August 25. That is the week teachers will be back.
They will wait to publically announce it once enrollment and class schedules have been updated and added to StudentVue/MyMCPS. That won't happen for a bit (for all schools). I'm a parent, so I understand people asking! I just wanted to help; I'm not sure what's going on with some of these posts Best wishes to all of our returning and new families!

Yes, it has been announced to staff. Upper school STUDENT orientation is August 25. That is the week teachers will be back.

Everyone is getting accepted. They have more than enough slots for all those who applied
