Doesn’t the model X have 3 rows?

DP and yes, it does. We’ve had our three row Model X for almost six years.

Cost is insane though. And 3rd row is miniscule.

Your point? Is the Rivian any cheaper? Moreover, is it actually available?

Get a minivan if you need three huge rows. That’s not what the Tesla X offers, but we find it very usable.

Tesla X is $30K - $60K more expensive than the R1S. I would consider that a significant price difference. And for now, Rivian still has a tax credit. If you ordered the X today, you'd have to go the Plaid to get it anytime soon (Aug-Oct 2022), otherwise the dual motor version (still $106K+) is first half of 2023 which isn't that different from Rivian.

My point about the X third row still stands - it is usable in a pinch, but that's about it.

IIRC, the 3rd row in the Tesla X costs extra ($6500). So you are looking at a starting price of $112K for an X with a 3rd row. And even then, delivery date is spring 2023.

Tesla X is a massive money suck, IMHO.

Agree - I would never spend that much on a Tesla. Anything more than $70K and I'm going to an actual luxury brand.

You're SOL though if you want a decent SUV EV. Not much on the market yet.

Certainly none with the range, charging network, and features of Teslas.

Build quality of Rivian is significantly better than Tesla and they've been making cars for like, what, a few months?

You can't even get a Tesla X delivered until spring of 2023. So it's not like you're even getting much of a time advantage with Tesla.

The fact of the matter is that there are barely any 3 row all-electric models available right now. There's literally only 2 or 3 in production at this moment in time.

If you absolutely require a 3 row all-electric, my advice is to wait a few years. There's plenty of two-row models available, if you are willing to compromise. Or look at 3 row PHEVs, which has more options.

HA! This.

Tesla's are brand name only. I'll never understand the public's perpetual need to buy what everyone else has for status.

By the time you get this one, you'll want whatever new shiny object is out next.

You’ve obviously never driven one.

Other established brands are coming to market with better EV options. Think Porsche and Mercedes. Plus, they don't require interest free loans like Elon does.

An interest-free loan sounds good, if I needed a loan or wanted a Tesla. Am I missing something?

My model 3 is the best car I’ve ever owned.

It's all fun and games until someone got stranded without any charging stations in sight.

The interest-free loan is from you to Tesla to hold the reservation, not the other way around.

Think you can get a third row in a Model Y for significantly cheaper than the Model X, though I personally would rather get another EV brand. The Rivian R1S isn't that much more than the Model Y is once you factor in the tax credits.

You can park the Rivian next to your DeLorean and Fisker Karma.

I have driven one. I have driven other EVs. When you are sitting in DMV traffic, none of them really feel that different from each other. If you’re taking one to the open roads of Wyoming or West Texas, you could really open it up with your Tesla. Unfortunately, then you wouldn’t find any charging stations.
