80's Potomac kid comment.

Yes. those black kids couldn't possibly be smart too.

2017 snowflake comment.
Yes. You couldn't avoid trying to invent a race issue.
(Not the OP, just tired of the noisy snowflakes)

If you want to see some snowflakes, watch the Mater Dei 16 yo get schooled in BB by the 14 yo St. Jerome's boys (their B team). it the best part of the BB tourney at Prep every year.

Your comments are racist. The population is majority black and you can't imagine that their academics are equal to Prep and Gonzaga.... they are.

I sit in the stands with you, I am your friend, I am your neighbor, and I cringe at your comments at these boys when we sit in the stands together. I tell you your racist to your face. You laugh it off you call me liberal, you call me a snowflake, We all call you pathetic.

I don't have a dog in this race but you lose all credibility when you say Dematha has comparable academics as Prep. That's like accusing someone of being racist if they point out that Harvard has better academics than Howard. At some point you have to deal with reality otherwise everybody will discount even the valid things you have to offer as the ramblings of a delusional madman.

Funny you should use that analogy. My black nephew who attended Prep, turned down Harvard for a HBC, not Howard, because he believed he would get a better education there. Because he would not be (like he was at Prep) the guy everybody assumed got in for sports.

Damatha is a top Catholic college prep private school in the wealthiest majority black county in the world. You think they don't get the brightest kids from their area going there and you also don't believe they get an equivalent education to Prep of all places, maybe you should have said, St. Albans.

The reality is that you don't know what goes on at Damatha. You don't know they also have a top of the line arts program. You probably don't know that tons of black kids get into Prep but choose Damatha over Prep, for academics and the social aspects and for the commute and arts. A kid might choose Prep because he knows he will never make the team at Damatha and playing is important. (Same goes for Gonzaga, you know you are not making the BB team there, so maybe you will go to Prep and you will have a chance.)

If you think the smart kids only go to Prep, you have lost all credibility.

I didn't say that smart kids only go to prep, I said that the two schools really aren't comparable from an academic perspective. I would wager that on any metric of academic outcomes, Prep will come out on top.......college placement, test scores, college matriculation, college graduation rate, etc. It really has nothing to do with black or white. Oh, and congratulations to your nephew but he may regret his decision one day because the quality of education at a HBCU will not be comparable to that at Harvard. He may feel far more comfortable in that environment and thus get more out of what is offered, which is great, but that's not the same as the quality of education. I'd think of that as quality of experience. Either way he's a smart kid that no doubt will go on to great things.

+1. Keep looking for a fight but there was not one there.

If Landon cuts down on the mental mistakes and penalties, they should win this game by 3+ goals.

In the first game, Landon was called for 6 penalties, compared to Bullis' zero (except in the final minute of the game by a Bullis player on the Landon goalie).

Landon has more depth and a more complete team.

I have no dog in this fight either.

Except this is a forum for discussing private school education. There is already a sports forum here (and elsewhere). Don't you have somewhere where you can brag about being a member of Columbia CC?

Keys to Game:

Landon: Stop Trippi and Co. when they are running their settled offense. They did not have an answer in game one, and Bullis did very well when they could settle the ball and run plays. Continue to dominate face offs/ground balls. Possess. Epstein needs to show up.

Bullis: Win at the face off X. Defend in transition and unsettled situations. Win more 50/50 balls. Have someone besides Trippi contribute on offense.

Just imagine that you might have more to learn than you have to share.

If Landon finishes undefeated this season they have to be unanimous #1 team in the country based upon tough conference and non conference wins.
