Not anymore. South Africa just hit with it |
You should try listening sometime. |
My SIL is a public health nurse and non-alarmist. She cancelled her trip, said that going in NOT good for the spread |
This is bs. It still only applies to travel through April 30. What about my May trip??? And nee flights have to be made by Dec 31??? So disappointed. |
Yep. Morocco has 3. A few other countries too. |
Are you the Ibiza poster? A week ago you were asking for tips on what to do there? Glad you changed your mind! |
I would have a mindset that canceling and losing the money is an investment to both your health. Don’t see it as lost dollars for a trip. |
This is NOT a complete quarantine. Cuomo is all over saying that. This means -- schools are closed + no large gatherings allowed (I imagine that means religious services as well) + National Guard is brought in and is putting up a testing site right there so people from New Rochelle aren't traveling to drs/hospitals in surrounding towns. But Cuomo is clarifying that you can get in your car and go where you want to go but you can't gather in crowds. Not trying to start anything but why do you say ultra-religious don't listen -- i.e. they'll still have services and gather (though I'd imagine in private homes) after being told not to? Not picking on any religious community, I've seen it in my faith also where it comes down to -- what does gov't/authority know, they don't have faith like us . . . . |
Thank you for the thoughtful response. I’m one of the ones traveling to visit a dying relative. I fully expect they’ll say we should come. But I am worried that if we give it to them accidentally, not only might they suffer more, but the rest of the family will hate us for hastening their death. But we want this chance to say goodbye and I know they do also. It’s a tough decision. |
Okay - serious question. We had a cruise booked for spring break that we are rebooking. I’d prefer a refund but that is not looking likely. The two times we can rebook that fit in the 12 month window are November (election week) or January (MLK week.) Neither is ideal as the kids will miss a few days of school but our options are limited. We are leaning towards November so that the trip won’t be in the height of seasonal flu and winter weather for flights, but Jan is technically further away for CV19 purposes.
What say you oh wise DCUMers? November or January? |
I don't understand where people got the idea that a pandemic was supposed to be trouble free and convenient. Jesus. |
Chinese doctors say autopsies of #coronavirus victims suggest that #COVID19 is “like a combination of #SARS and #AIDS as it damages both the lungs and immune systems,” and can cause “irreversible” lung damage even if the patient survives.
Still think its no big deal if you get this? Even if you don't die you're looking at problems for life. https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/health-problems/chinese-doctors-say-coronavirus-like-a-combination-of-sars-and-aids-can-cause-irreversible-lung-damage/news-story/f58f19c5eeae99b845c54e2d2b9305ca |
You could make the caregivers sick, you could make the other residents sick. I would recommend Skype. It is sad but sometimes you have to think of the greater good. |
Also I bet its all the 'no government oversight' people whining! You don't want the government in your homes, churches, or workplace. Well you can stand to let the government stay back when you lose money over your random vacations as well. Hypocrites. |
I would be concerned, too. However, at the presser just now, Dr. Birx said that there were several pregnant women in China who had the virus when they were giving birth and all had healthy babies. Of course, it is doubtful that you are ready to deliver, so I suppose it could be different. |
