I'm not sure how to say this without sounding flip, but if they are already dying, does it matter if they catch Covid?  This is absolutely one of the times where you consult with said elderly relative (if they are of sound mind).  Because to them it may be worth the small risk of catching the virus to see their family one last time.  Or they may prefer to hang on as long as possible, even if it means doing without visitors.[/quote]

Thank you for the thoughtful response.  I’m one of the ones traveling to visit a dying relative.  I fully expect they’ll say we should come.  But I am worried that if we give it to them accidentally, not only might they suffer more, but the rest of the family will hate us for hastening their death.  But we want this chance to say goodbye and I know they do also.  It’s a tough decision.[/quote]
