Now that the kids have at least 4 weeks off school, we’re thinking the same.

We're currently booked to do this in Kiawah. I figure the change of pace will at least break things up. DH is worried that we will get stuck outside a quarantine zone ... but honestly, if it's at the beach and they work with us on long term rates ... not the worst thing?

Nope, I’d rather have my spacious house, already clean and fully stocked, with all of my kids toys, games, etc. and access to our doctors and hospitals if necessary.

Who ARE all these people who hate being home SO much they would insist on leaving in the middle of this?

No idea. People spend a million dollars on a house, thousands more decorating it and then can't stand to spend any time in it. Makes no sense. I think there are people who are just children and simply DO NOT want to do what they are told.

I don't mind just being at home. We will watch a lot of Star Wars

I think some people, including myself, have a strong “flight” instinct in stressful times

No evidence that bans are effective, especially if Americans allowed to travel from Europe and UK to US. Just a way to point fingers.
Accessible diagnostics and social distancing are effective.

We cancelled everything. Wedding trip (wedding just got postponed), NYC trip, lax trip, and even weekend drive 3 hours to camping (cause being sick in the middle of nowhere, no thanks).

Got puzzles, books, movies and food. Might even learn to bake. Considering teaching kids Spanish via Rosetta Stone.

Norway just called the U.S. to the mat and we LOST.

Oh, you mean that global ‘leader’ who can’t seem to roll out a testing system that other countries have brought down to the level of drive through coffees?

Yeah, that would be us.

Anonymous wrote:Not only did I not cancel the month long trip to Paris I’ve been planning for almost a year, I moved the date up 8 days because I freaked at the flight cancellation stories. 29 1/2 years in Federal service and this is my retirement trip. I’d rather be stuck in Paris than here. Flight is on time but wow the airport is desserted.

You’ll change your tune if you get sick overseas. Good luck finding your comfort foods over there.

I'm mad this person didn't come back and tell us how their Paris COVID-19 trip went.

After they left -
- French cases of coronavirus ballooned to over 5,000
- National tourists attractions including the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Versailles were shut down
- Paris went on lockdown
- The U.S. government issued a travel ban from Europe

So....yeah.

Please don’t come here. So far we don’t have the virus that we know of so don’t bring it.

Or Norway?

All these "sophisticated" EU countries people like you likely loved to praise for being so much better have done diddly squat in advance either... I don't see any drive through testing in Italy either.

We’ve cancelled a cruise and two beach houses in the next few months.

Aruba cancelled my friend’s vacation there in 2 weeks.

Bride/Groom e-mailed wedding guests that the wedding is still on as of now (suppose to be in Spain in June). I have no idea how they're going to pull this off, especially when the CDC is recommending their guidelines for 8 weeks which puts us at the middle of May and who knows how long the rest of the world will go back to a sense of normalcy.
