| What’s with these people? They could easily pay the 200-400 a month for a cleaning service but are too cheap and too lazy to clean themselves so they allow their houses to become disgusting and unkempt. Don’t they feel embarrassed? |
| Different people have different levels of comfort. Maybe they believe as long as the kitchen and bathroom is clean the house is clean. Or that as long as they make their bed their house is clean. Whatever - just worry about your own house. |
Maybe they got robbed and lost sentimental jewelry or had items broken when letting people in so often. |
Why do you care? MYOB |
Yeah this. We’ve had a bad experience with cleaners taking things so I haven’t hired any in years. Sometimes I miss having a spotless house but I have trust issues now, and we’re a family that really values privacy and the idea of a stranger coming in to all your private spaces kind of gets to me. So we have to deal with the mess and the time it takes to clean (a lot of the time I can’t be bothered to). |
| Some people feel comfortable when things are unorganized and dirty. |
| My ILs are super wealthy with cleaning service but they are incredibly dirty, so it's never clean enough even with the service. They wait for the gardener to pick up the dog poop from the yard and they have 3 huge dogs. They wear shoes indoors, they let the dogs on the furniture etc. |
Taking off shoes to come indoors is very annoying when you aren’t wearing slip ons. What about when you need to go back and forth to load things in/out of the car? |
| That's probably us. We were going to hire one and then COVID hit and I was 8 months pregnant. Then someone I knew got COVID from their maid. So we still haven't hired someone because I'm pregnant again. My one child is also high risk. |
This is my ILs, too! |
| ^^ and, I should add that they’re definitely not embarrassed. They couldn’t care less. |
I've never met someone like this. It makes me wonder what your level of "disgusting and unkempt" means? Some dust on the coffee table and a few clothes strewn on a side chair? |
| Yes |
No, it's not. You just bring everything by the door, go inside and then take your shoes off. https://www.bobvila.com/slideshow/7-reasons-to-be-a-no-shoes-house-53098 |
We have a cleaning service so our house isn’t dirty. It does get cluttered / untidy though. The #1 reason we have a cleaning service is to force ourselves to tidy up before they come.
