I mean he’s definitely lost some support around the margins, but we just had mid-term elections and those states aren’t moving Democratic enough to ensure he’s defeated in 2020. Best case scenario Dems win narrowly, same states as 2016 but adding 3 narrow victories in PA/WI/MI. I don’t think the other states are going to vote for a D for president any time soon although it’s definitely true that statewide, D’s are having more success in those states.

Overall dems won the house by 9%(the highest in recorded history) and got 40 seats , the highest since Nixon.

And all this in a mid term election when the gop is supposed to be voting and dems don’t vote as much. Imagine what will happen in presidential year when dems actually come out in droves to vote.

Trump has totally lost many of his voters because he hasn’t changed anything but pass another tax cuts for the wealthy. There are no more coal, steel jobs in thousands. Opioid addiction reaches its worst in 2018. And farms are suffering due to trade war and tariffs. He hasn’t made China bow to him and instead has crashed the stock market and Agri market.

Do you think security guards at federal buildings, park rangers, federal prison guards, Coast Guard personnel, NOAA meteorologists, Smithsonian museums and National Zoo staff are staying home every weekend and holiday?

What you write is true and reasonable. Sadly, reasoning doesn't exist when people believe Trump that he will bring COAL back! Coal has been done and gone for a long time and anyone knows that. But, not his voters in "coal" country. While the world and US was moving to natural gas, some people indeed coal mining towns believed he will bring coal back to them?! Nobody cares about the shutdown anymore, especially outside DC. It is yesterday’s news, the new normal, whatever you want to call it. Just look at CNN, even they are barely discussing it now. The news cycle is short, and the shutdown is long, so it’s no longer a story.
