seriously- as an Asian American , African Americans can 100% be very bigoted and racist to the point that it negatively affects your life (the bigotry actually gets in the way of your success or ability to peacefully go about your business).

Our family has been Washington team fans forever. We have gotten rid of all our old gear. Why? It's not worth the risk of harm. Commanders offends no one, R*dskins might offend, at the least. At the worst it signals you are racist who doesn't care about a marginalized group's feelings.

It's a simple swap honestly. I had stopped buying anything supporting Dan Snyder years ago, and was perfectly happy actually support the team again by buying some news things.- We also aren't psychos who have our entire house dedicated to a team. So it was a new jersey here or there and a few t-shirts or hats over the last year or two.

That was not a survey of tribally enrolled people, it was self-identified people who probably are NOT enrolled and don't have any documented or family connection to a tribe

They changed their name several years ago so if you are still wearing/displaying anything with the old name at this point I will assume that you are intending to offend people with it. You shouldn't have had it in the first place, names like that should have gone away decades ago (long before 2020!), but to still have the license plate frame or the flag on your antenna or in your front window on game day or whatever...you are just flaunting something you know is considered racist. Might as well put on a pointy hood while you're at it, you're trash.

And yes, I feel the same way about people who display the Confederate flag. I had family members who fought on the southern side in the Civil War and can remember them and my family history without displaying any flag other than the U.S. flag. The Confederate flag, like the former Commanders team name, and plenty of other racist names and symbols, isn't about "history" or "pride," its about the ability for members of the majority group to be openly and continually disrespectful to minorities.

Nope.

Wearing Redskins gear is not the same as putting on a pointy hood. I’m not saying it’s okay (as someone who is not Native American, it’s not up to me to decide what Native Americans should or shouldn’t be offended by). However, a group of football fans cheering on their team is not the same as the Klan, which is known for burning crosses and lynchings, and to equate the two trivializes the terrible suffering from the violent persecution that has been perpetrated for so many years.

Incidentally, I’m not a sports fan and don’t have any gear under either team name.
