So far my guy buddies and I counted 10 phone calls and 2 naps today!

That prominent much loved Rabbi in Georgetown got caught hiding secret cameras in his synagogue, recording women as they undressed and cleaned themselves. Then he'd tell them they weren't clean enough and sent them back to do it again. They had to obey him. Voyeurism. He's in jail now, thank God.

Nannies, beware. You have nothing to protect you.

I saw on the news that nanny cams are getting hacked by predators. That isn't safe for the nanny or the child.

Unfortunately you will find almost every job now will have you on some type of performance or security camera.

If you can't trust the nanny, you shouldn't have one. Simple.

Its not that black and white. Its the parent's right to know how their baby is being taken care of.

And it's her option to quit without notice when she discovers your dishonesty.

The app was developed by a security company that sells nanny cams, among other surveillance equipment.

You can learn about it here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LhF3J44zBHw

This is a MUST-SEE by every single nanny!

Why does this have to continually be said? It is NOT the same. At your job, is there only one person who knows where the cameras are? Is there only one person allowed to review the footage? Are there no protocols for viewing the footage and what actions are taken if something isn't right? If it is learned that someone is being inappropriate with the cameras, are you comfortable in knowing that said person will be severely punished? A nanny being secretly filmed by her employer has none of these protections. Her employer could put a camera anywhere, and she wouldn't know. They could do whatever they like with the footage, and she will likely never know. They could misconstrue the footage, and fire her without warning or reason. And finally even if she does find out about inappropriate use of the cameras, the justice process would be long, expensive, and even with the best of outcomes, still leaves HER the victim out of a job. Don't secretly tape your nanny. It's messed up.

Don't do anything inappropriate and you won't have anything to worry about.

You are truly stupid. This is like saying innocent people have no need of an attorney if accused of a crime.

T h e cameras are not in bathrooms.

Maybe not where you sit on the toilet. Just because you have a kid and a nanny, you're not automatically Mother Theresa. Perverts have been known to father children and even hire nannies.

Good point.

Yes it's true. It was in the news within the last year. It was a ritual and he had to tell him to go clean themselves and he would record them. A real pervert.

And it's the nanny's right to know that you may be recording her. You must inform her (by law) in writing, just like at any place of employment.

Exactly.

I haven't read every post here, but after what I've seen so far, please allow me to bring some reason to this board. There's nothing wrong with having cameras in your house and any good nanny would not have an issue with it. But you need to tell the nannies you're interviewing that they are there. It is illegal to have cameras in the bathroom and common decency should tell you that's inappropriate. If a nanny is uncomfortable with cameras then she will turn down your job offer and that's fine. Yes, you may have more difficulty finding someone, but in my experience if your benefits package and pay are good and you are enjoyable to work with the cameras won't matter. And for us -- if the nanny didn't want the cameras, then we didn't feel comfortable with her taking care of our child, so it was for the best all around.

For nannies out there against the cameras, please think of it this way: new mothers of infants are leaving the most important thing in their world's in the hands of a complete stranger. Yes, you've interviewed a few times, they spoke to your references and you seem great (which is why she hired you). But you are still a stranger. Until she knows for a fact that you are a good nanny and will take good care of their child she wants to be able to check-in occasionally to see your work in action.

We have cameras in our house. I told our nanny from the beginning they would be there and she said it was no problem at all. When she first started I watched them often. Once I realized how amazing and loving she was I stopped watching them. I only occasionally would check-in, not to see the nanny, but because I missed and wanted to see my LO.

Any parent can be a pervert, especially if you know nothing about their background.

It's true. There is hackers jacking off at nanny cams, anything electronic with a camera can be seen, even from FBI duh. Your laptop, pc, Xbox camera is a tool to get spied from fbi or perverts.
If I was a nanny I would put cameras on my employers house too. Bam, 50/50. So that way I can see if they put cameras or not.
