Unfortunately you will find almost every job now will have you on some type of performance or security camera.

If you can't trust the nanny, you shouldn't have one. Simple.

I would consider it a reflection of their regard for human dignity in general, not just a desire to protect children. Disclosing the camera will turn away any perverts who want to harm kids. A lazy nanny who plans to watch tv all day will go elsewhere. Choosing not to disclose it just gives them a special show at my expense.

Does anyone have recommendations for a camera detector? I just came across an iPhone app and have found several models under $100. Would love to know about other peoples experience before I buy.

It's against the law. If you have installed a hidden camera you have to tell your employees. Especially in Maryland otherwise be prepared to be sued by employees.

Exactly.

Maybe not where you sit on the toilet. Just because you have a kid and a nanny, you're not automatically Mother Theresa. Perverts have been known to father children and even hire nannies.

Why would you need to know that if you are ok with not knowing where they are?

It's the law that the nanny is informed that you do, or you may, have hidden cameras recording her, and you will not have them in the bathroom.

I'm confused. What is your actual issue?

You don't want a job with cameras?
You think every camera is recording and storing hours of you walking around a house with a child?
You think the family is paying someone to watch hours and hours of you walking around the house with a child?
You are paranoid there are cameras everywhere and under the toilet?

You can get on a soapbox and say you don't trust people who put up cameras. And then go ahead and please quit.
Sounds like the best result for you and the family.

Sounds like you had best begin to obey the law.

Wtf is a "secret camera"? Like carved and painted into the furniture or wall or a teddy bear? Oh, please. It's right up in the nursery or playroom. In plain view because it want a plain view. Just like the security cameras.

So... after all that... there is no such thing as a "hidden camera detector", right?
