I haven't read every post here, but after what I've seen so far, please allow me to bring some reason to this board. There's nothing wrong with having cameras in your house and any good nanny would not have an issue with it. But you need to tell the nannies you're interviewing that they are there. It is illegal to have cameras in the bathroom and common decency should tell you that's inappropriate. If a nanny is uncomfortable with cameras then she will turn down your job offer and that's fine. Yes, you may have more difficulty finding someone, but in my experience if your benefits package and pay are good and you are enjoyable to work with the cameras won't matter. And for us -- if the nanny didn't want the cameras, then we didn't feel comfortable with her taking care of our child, so it was for the best all around. For nannies out there against the cameras, please think of it this way: new mothers of infants are leaving the most important thing in their world's in the hands of a complete stranger. Yes, you've interviewed a few times, they spoke to your references and you seem great (which is why she hired you). But you are still a stranger. Until she knows for a fact that you are a good nanny and will take good care of their child she wants to be able to check-in occasionally to see your work in action. We have cameras in our house. I told our nanny from the beginning they would be there and she said it was no problem at all. When she first started I watched them often. Once I realized how amazing and loving she was I stopped watching them. I only occasionally would check-in, not to see the nanny, but because I missed and wanted to see my LO.
