If the camera is wireless there maybe a way to detect its signal. But a standalone camera? Good luck |
fodas!!! |
And it's the nanny's right to know that you may be recording her. You must inform her (by law) in writing, just like at any place of employment. |
Actually, the law depends on the state. Most states have laws against recording sound and video, and where the camera can be located, but there is no law in this area against a hidden camera. That said, I think hidden cameras are kind of silly and would definitely tell a nanny if I had one. Parents can have cameras for any reason they want and nannies can avoid jobs where there are cameras. There isn't anything wrong with either position. |
That isn't all there is to it. Does it need to be spelled out for you? What if you absentmindedly pick your nose? Scratch your butt, do something else embarrassing? And then you realize they had a camera on you the whole time. That would be a lovely feeling. Cameras in private homes are only necessary when there is a reason to suspect a nanny of wrongdoing. |
Cameras in private homes are necessary when a parent wants one and for whatever reason they wish. Period. |
Thank god I have several cameras in the house, set on motion detect, recording and saving all such footage into a huge library everything my nanny does.
I spend each weekend going through the footage. That's exactly how I use it. I find my nanny so important that I must catalog her every move with and without my child. |

This. |
Today a restaurant owner in Maryland got arrested for having secret cameras in "his" restrooms.
The same thing can happen to you. |
Heard on the news, if you suspect a secret camera in your workplace, you should notify the police and they'll check it out. |
Not the PP nor a nanny but you are simply being obtuse. |
I know this is an old thread, but you can find out if your employer has a nanny cam if your phone is connected to their WiFi. Most nanny cams today are connected to WiFi so the employer can pull up the feed at anytime on another computer. If you are connected to their WIFI you can download a network scanner app on your phone and it will tell you every device in the house that is connected to the Wifi. |
Not necessarily true. I'm a live-in nanny, my bedroom is my personal space. Yet I found a nanny cam in my room during a trial period. Another family wanted to put one in each bathroom because they had a child that was about to start potty training and they wanted to make sure nothing inappropriate was going to happen. That included my bathroom! |
Full disclosure required, FYI. |
